I believe we now have the best possible gaiter. All of the materials are waterproof nylon. The lower third is 600-denier polyester urethane coated. The upper two thirds is either a 200-denier oxford or 70-denier nylon. Both are urethane coated. The closure is on the outside of each leg. It is more efficient there than down the middle. The closure utilizes hook and loop as well as snaps. The snaps are equidistant from each other. By matching up the snaps, you are guaranteeing the hook and loop to stay flat and smooth. It is also double security that the gaiter stay closed. There is an abrasion patch sewn on the inside as well. The strap is a nylon webbing, 1 inch wide. The buckle is a ladder lock.
On insulated models, the insulation snaps to the inside of the gaiter, leaving you with the option of having insulated or non-insulated gaiters.
