More and more hunters sleep on cots. From my experience, I see them bring blowup pads that cause their backs to get cold and they ultimately wake up and spend the rest of the night trying to get warm. A supplier showed me a very dense padding material that is between 2" – 3" thick. I asked for a sample roll and when I received it I put it in the casing of our traditional pad and it is spectacular. I expect that it will successfully perform at 40° below zero assuming the bag you are in is rated for that temperature; certainly that will be a Wiggy’s bag, regardless if you are on a cot or on the ground.
When using it on a cot, secure it to the cot with the straps that hold it when it is rolled up. The photos show how much bigger it is than the standard 72" ground pad that weighs 3.25 pounds when it is rolled up.
Luxurious Ground Pad Weights (Single Pads):
72" › 5 lbs.
84" › 5.5 lbs.
I’m a senior citizen planning my first outdoor on the ground tent camping experience in years with 28° (F) nighttime expected temperatures later in the year.
If the Wiggy’s luxurious pad didn’t work, then I was going to have to figure out some way to sleep standing up.
I test drove the Wiggy’s luxurious pad this weekend in 23° (F) nighttime temperature on the ground in the tent in the backyard. The only missing items were the fish, water, and canoe.
Not only did the Wiggy’s luxurious pad work as described, but it exceeded my own high expectations.
I'm ready to go tent camping.

When the long narrow first went on a sale a year or two back I decided to take advantage of the steep discount and try it out. Wow, I'm glad I did! In conjunction with my ultra-light cot it's honestly very close to being as comfortable as my bed at home! Sure, it's a bit bulky and heavy but I've never had such a great night's sleep in the woods as I did the first time I tried this Wiggy's pad. The wider might be nice but as a bonus the narrow fits my compact cot very well.
It should go without saying but this pad combined with a Wiggy's bag is about as good as it gets. Thanks!

Used the pad on a cot with Hunter Ultima Thule. Used the straps to hold the pad at one end. Pad stayed in place and no issues with sub freezing temps. Hunting buddy was on foam pads and an old school cotton sleeping bag. He had moisture under his bag. No moisture issues with the Wiggys gear. Pad is bulky but worth the good night's sleep. Will use in my hammock next.
