Lightweight. Affordable. Durable.
For Unintended Weather Or For An Emergency Shelter!
For a long while now customers have been asking us to do a lightweight poncho for emergencies or for an addition to their packs. Until recently however we could not compete with the $5.00, one time use, disposable kind that you will find in so many stores around the country. Well now we can compete, (though maybe not directly with price), yet with quality, quality that lies within the function of the material however and not necessarily in the coloring. For quite some time now we have stocked all of our color flawed material, not wanting to throw away that which could be used for something...
These ponchos are made with the urethane coated material (non-breathable, 100% waterproof). If you find yourself in a bind use the poncho as a shelter, (lean-to, A frame, etc.).
A simple poncho with snaps on each side for adjustment of arm hole size. The hood is a non-adjustable. Each Poncho will come with a simple storage sack.
Tie up the hood and you have basically a waterproof tarp that can be made into any shelter your imagination creates!
(Wiggy's does not do seam taping on this item.)
Approx. Weight:
2 lbs

Hello, a few years ago, my hunting partner and I were on a remote butte in the middle of a wilderness. We were hunting Blacktail Deer. About a half mile away was a 1000 foot high hill. Here, in the western states, anything under 3,000 feet is a hill. Anyway, it was the late afternoon when we noticed a thick fog descending slowly down the hill. We hurriedly packed up our gear, stuffed it into our backpacks, slung our rifles over our backs and headed away from our location. We knew if we were caught in that type of fog we would be compelled to remain in our location overnight. Our ‘89 Chevy 4x4 was miles away. So we began our trek out. We hiked about a 1/4 mile when the thick fog ensconced the entire area. The fog was so dense it masked any object more than 2 feet away. Very scary stuff We ended up setting up camp in the old growth oak forest nearby. We used our ponchos as a lean-to and sleeping cover. A Mylar emergency blanket was our floor. In front of the hooch, about two feet away, we built a rock fire-ring. The rear wall of it was about two feet tall which helped to reflect heat into the hooch. It was very effective. We traded off every two hours so that one person could sleep while the other stoked the fire. We ate nuts and jerky as the night progressed. At this point in the story my dad would have said, we died. Obviously we didn’t. What I have learned, over and over, is to buy quality equipment, not the cheap crap. I love Wiggys equipment, and apparel . I HAVE bet my life on his products “working as advertised” many times, and have used them in the harshest of climates. I have never been disappointed. Thank you.

I was camping in the woods and the weather said no rain so I left my rain suit at home. It was a storm that parked over my area. It rained all day and night. Luckily I had my wiggys sleeping bag and my added poncho that came with my order. This poncho kept me dry the whole trip. The last day of being rained on it did start to saturate the fabric and if water pooled while sitting it dripped through. I think this product is so much better then vinyl ponchos and worth the time to pack and leave in your backpack.

I love the poncho liner it is a little smelly but I think that its supposed to be that way, my only frown is that I wish that they would make the back longer to cover my backpack to keep of the rain but overall it works and that's what matters.

Does what it is designed to do. Not cheap. Put one in every pack.

I NEVER write reviews and I gain nothing by sharing my opinion;
7 years as a paratrooper, life long alaskan, and not gentle with equipment. This gear is built to last, built to take a beating, and keeps your 3rd point of contact warm and dry.
Jerry Wigutow called me personally to fix my order, and upgraded my shipping to fix the problem. I can’t stress enough how spectacular this company is. Don’t support China, keep your money in America.

Took it for a test in a healthy rain storm. Had more than enough room for my small backpack under it. Took a two mile hike and decided this is great. Definitely prefer this for a poncho over the various plastic/ vinyl types. Beats my sweat inducing shoremansn rain jacket. Another new favorite piece of gear.
