Send Us an eMailHi Wiggys crew,
The new site looks great!
Just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your work.
From the Antarctic Bag & Mitts, our beautiful white Fossil Ridge Parkas & Bibs, Mukluks, even the booties & other odds & ends… these have all become my favorite things, because they’re the equipment depend on with full confidence. Amazing warmth, breathability and comfort, rugged durability, washability, and the quality of your company itself, standing behind your products & even accommodating custom orders; there is just no one like you guys.
You’ve made winter my favorite time of year. Now when it’s -35, I grab a book, my gear & snowshoes, head out wherever, and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in total comfort. I’ve used your gear winter camping & adventuring up into canada, climbing up/sliding down snow, ice, rocks & dirt, been blown across Lake Superior on my face in ice squalls and after the initial shock, even enjoyed the experience of getting run over by the freight train whiteout hurricane, completely warm & protected. Somehow, this stuff shows no wear yet! I don’t get it, but I love it.
I can’t thank you enough for the excellent equipment and your willingness to do custom work to make everything perfect for your customers.
Sincerely,
Pete Doering
Here are a few pics of places your gear has allowed me to go...
Mr. Wigutow,
In August of this year I completed my Alaskan caribou hunt that I discussed in my first email back in April, 2014. During the trip, I utilized the Super Light bag that I purchased on your advice. I had the FTRSS with me but I did not need it! I used it as an extra sleeping bag since the Super Light was plenty warm; for short periods I slept with bare feet and was plenty warm. I was able to dry out most of my clothes just by either wearing them in the bag or stuffing them inside while I was in it. My buddies with cheap bags never could dry their clothes and they were miserable. I did not take your ground pad with me since we had an outfitter camp package that included (cheap USGI-type) sleeping pads.
I also wore daily your 9” socks and jacket liner. They worked very well in keeping me warm and dry. The socks were very comfortable during the 40-plus miles I walked while on the hunt. In the attached photo I was wearing the jacket inside out as 'tundra camo.' It worked well in that regard.
Anyways, thank you for the great advice and for the great products.

I think I bought my Ultima Thule back in like 1997 and it's still my go to bag in the winter time here in Colorado. Over New Year's eve I backpacked up Pikes Peak and camped inside Monty's Rock Pile just below Barr Camp. The temp at night was around 5 below zero and I slept toasty warm thanks to your bag. Thanks Jerry.

[Here's a picture of] your awsome waders at work. 3rd season on them and of course they were trashed by the end of last season, but a few patches got us through this season. They sure do make crossing streams with sheep meat on your back a little nicer. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I will order a pair of your fishnets soon. In the mean time, here is a picture of a parka I made from a pattern in Gerry's other book, Lightweight camping equipment and how to make it.
The parka is over 40 years old and has a few extra ventilation holes.
It is made from Fairlane nylon, a type of taffeta that I believe Gerry recommended.
Thanks also for providing reasonably priced fishnet underwear with the Gerry-approved size of holes. You are also keeping the work of Norwegian fishermen alive.

BEING FROM PHOENIX AZ. , I HAVE MADE MANY DRIVES TO ALASKA,SEVEN ALTOGETHER , TO VISIT MY DAUGHTER WHO LIVES IN EAGLE RIVER, ON TWO TRIPS IN THE 90s I WENT TO PRUDOE BAY IN THE WINTER, ALWAYS CAMPED JUST NORTH OF COLD FOOT, AT 40 DEG. BELOW, MY WIGGYS THAT I PURCHASED KEPT ME COMFORTABLE,
IT CAME WITH TWO BAGS THAT GO INSIDE EACH OTHER AND A PILLOW
BEEN DEER AND ELK HUNTING IN COLORADO AND NORTHERN AZ.AND NEVER HAD TO USE THE TWO BAGS TOGETHER
THE ONLY TIME I NEEDED BOTH WAS IN ALASKA, THE BAGS ARE STILL AS GOOD AS NEW, ON ONE TRIP I WENT TO LOOK FOR THE FACTORY IN
GIRDWOOD...GAVE UP AND HAD A WONDERFUL STEAK AT THE DOUBLE MUSKIE.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING A GREAT SLEEPING BAG....
I AM 79 YEARS OLD NOW AND WILL BE MAKING MY LAST TRIP TO ALASKA THIS MAY, AS MY DAUGHTER IS MOVING TO WASHINTON STATE ,WIDBY ISLAND
I HOPE THAT THE CANADIAN BORDER WILL BE OPEN ?

I have seven sons, all Eagle Scouts, and learned about Wiggy sleeping bags while camping in northern Idaho! One of my son’s bought a Wiggy’s Super Light and while he didn’t go camping with us that winter, I borrowed his Wiggy bag. Best night sleep ever!
After that I have purchased more than 10 Wiggy’s bags for my family and never worry about sleeping comfortably any more.
I tell all I can about Wiggy’s bags and the guarantee! Simply the best!!!

In response to your recent commentary about the bottom line of most places, I was working in a sporting goods store in the 1970's. A guy came in, and said he needed a sleeping bag for a trip to Alaska. I told him we didn't have a bag that would work for him, and he should go to a local climbing shop. The thanked me and left. My boss just about fired me, because I wouldn't lie to a customer, we simply didn't have a bag that would protect him where he was going. I will not misrepresent (read lie) to a customer just to make a sale, I quit. So, this has been going on forever, and probably predates Wiggys, but we have come full circle. I won't use it if it doesn't have a Wiggys label and anybody dumb enough to listen to me knows never less than his 0-degree bag, Ideally the FTRSS version, and his pad.

"Wiggy" might be interested to know that, after 45 years of faithful service through some really cold winters, I'm finally having to part with two of my all-time favorite winter outer garments - an Olam Outdoor Sports parka and an Olam vest (see attached photos). They are both still in great shape, the filament insulation has never shifted over the years, and the zippers still work well. But unfortunately, I have "grown" from the Medium size I was in my 20's when I purchased them in the 1970's in Morgantown, WV, to my now X-Large size in my retirement years back home in Colorado. And my retired 60-year-old torso just won't fit into those medium size garments any longer. But, I'll be dropping them both off at a Goodwill store soon so someone else who can fit into them will continue to get good use out of them. Olam made some great products "back in the day."
Big fan,

I'm way impressed with this bag. I bought it several years ao, after speakin to the owner. He uaranteed it to zero degrees F. So on my yearly camp in winter saa, I was in a tent with no heat source. I put the ba to the test at only 10Degreed F with no socks on. Iwas amazed my feet did not get cold!!
Another year camping out. It was jusr above freezing. Sure enough, it rained a good bit, and the rain made it through the tent to the bottom of my sleeping bag. So once again I test the concept that the water does not drench you. The bag amazed me by pushing the water towards the outside of the bag. So once again I test the bag. It went to 20 derees F and I decided to sleep with no heat and no socks. It kept my feet warm!!
I cannot recommend this bag enough.

Instead of receiving gifts, you have continuously sent me precious gifts of your products. From my 2 sleeping bags, vests, jackets, sleeping pads, a comforter and lamilite socks, you provide the gifts that give every time. Thank you!
Happy Birthday and have a healthy and prosperous New Year!
Kind regards,
Jeff

After purchasing a sleeping bag and other items, And being extremely pleased, I decided to get one for my wife. However, I failed to ask her about which side zipper she wanted. I thought, no big deal. Wrong!
Well, i needed to ask Wiggy’s a question about returns and called and left my number. I was shocked when Jerry called me and by name! And told me, no problem. The owner of the company returned my call!

November is once again upon us here in the Midwest US.
The change in the temps, the rain/snow/ whatever Mother Nature decides to drop on us this week. The chill in the air is real, and naturally, for those of us that live and work mostly out of doors, thoughts are about digging out all that winter wear. I have been using Wiggy's for longer than i care to remember (or mention). Last year, around this time, i had ordered sleeping bags for some of my grandchildren as they are of the age now where they can appreciate some things a little more. One of the bags was for a girl, so naturally purple bag right. Well about a week after i placed the order, my phone rings while i am at work, i never thought to check the caller id , i just snatched it from the holster and hit the answer button with my nose (gloves, outdoors worker)
It was Jerry himself, calling ME to apologize for not having the color that i had ordered. I was beyond stunned. Why even apologize for not having a specific color? The color of the bags is irrelevant to me but Jerry himself felt it was important enough to call me, just a regular normal guy and apologize for not having the color i had ordered.
I will NEVER forget the way he spoke with me over the phone that day, nor will i ever recommend to anyone anything other than Wiggy's.
Yeah, That "cranky OB" does know how to make an impression!
