WHAT CAN I SAY THAT I HAVE NOT SAID!
When I started my day at my computer the first folder, I open is my emails. The following three were there. What can I say more other than it is a great way to start the day!
Dear Mr. Wiggy,
I wanted to thank you for the clothing your company has manufactured and sold us over the years.
My dad absolutely loved your Antarctic Parka -- even though he lived in NYS, he was older and thin and felt the cold so much...except when wearing your coat. Your coat brought him so much comfort especially in his final years. Even though it saw daily use in the cooler months -- maybe 6.5 months of the year for several years -- your Antarctic Parka was still in excellent condition with no visible signs of wear. Kudos on making such an excellent quality product that not only ages well but is also super easy to clean and maintain!!! After Dad passed, we donated his coat to the local VA.
I was fond of my own Antarctic Parka. It's a novel experience to wait for mass-transit on the coldest, windiest, wettest winter day that the Northeastern US can hand you, when your transportation is running about an hour late, and yet only need to wear just this coat over your normal clothes (instead of layer after layer after layer) ...and even feel a little toasty, too. Unfortunately, this coat -- through no fault of its own -- fell victim to its own superior insulating capabilities. (Hung my coat in a gym locker. Prior locker user "donated" creepy-crawlies inside. When I tried to eradicate creepy-crawlies from my coat by using the clothes dryer, they would crawl inside whatever coat surface wasn't exposed. So, turn the coat inside out and try again? Yeah, creepy-crawlies repeated the trick, too.)
After my Antarctic Parka's end, I opted for the Barren Grounds Parka...which is also an excellent product. You cautioned me about the rating, however, and that I would probably be back at some point for warmer options. You were right, and I should have listened to your advice. The coat is an excellent product and performs exactly as described. Unfortunately, when you get used to the best winter coat out there (with a -50F rating), it's a huge jump to a 0F rating. That is why I just ordered your Urban Antarctic Parka. If it performs anywhere near as well as your other products, I don't doubt that I will be very, very happy with the order. (And a belated thanks for excellent advice that I didn't take at the time.)
I still have my purple Supplex Vest from 10 years ago, which has seen rigorous use but has held up well. It doesn't look brand new -- what garment would? -- but it certainly doesn't look old, have patches of uneven wear, fading, tears, staining, etc. It and a sweat coat can handle most "light" winter weather.
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Lisa
I wrote back to Lisa that we send all our returns cleaned and reconditioned to the Wounded Warrior Foundation as well as thanking her for her kind words. What follows is her response.
No; thank *you*! Having a great winter coat that you can rely on (& don't have to replace every 2-3 years) makes a huuuuge difference in daily living. Whenever we've had our cold snaps -- and they've seemed to become more frequent these days -- people have come up to me and admired my coat. "That looks really warm." I would tell them it is, where I got it, and that it is Made in USA...because it matters. This might not be Alaska, but we can still use a good winter coat. Lisa
Got my Bag from you today! I love it! I’m emailing you while in it. ha-ha.. it’s a little roomier than I anticipated for a mummy... probably could have stuck with the Reg width (5’9” 175) ... but the boat shape is brilliant, and the materials are top notch and the MARPAT is fantastic. I’ve already told a coworker to pick one up. Another happy Wiggy’s owner here in Seattle. Can’t wait to put it through its paces next weekend!
Oh yeah. which size radial compression sack would you recommend for the Ultralight?
Cheers!
Jesse
I suggested that Jesse get the 2kl size because it is easier to put the bag in and it is going to be compressed anyway.
Jerry,
I should have guessed, wife wants a set too, a sweater, a full zippered, and a sleeping bag. I had to order another set for her. I know we won't ever have to replace them based on our other Wiggys purchases over the years; they never wear out. In some ways, it's sad I will never look for another cold weather jacket or rain wear. I really don't think there is another product like Ducksback, and I've tried almost every variation of the g-brand or clones. I told you I bought a ventile jacket a couple years ago. It works as long as you keep beading water up with applications of DWR, otherwise it whets out and becomes very heavy. It soils like cotton and takes forever to dry and launder. It is better suited for snow than rain. I think that is the next best material next to the #1 Ducksback. The Ducksback sheds better, is lighter, doesn't absorb much water, dries faster, easier to care for, and it looks great. Your Ducksback jackets are a relative bargain even at full price. (They also are insulated) I gave a Ducksback water demo at our office and people couldn't believe what they saw, nor could my wife. I think you must be present to see how water completely beads off. DRW can't match it.
If you buy a Goretex jacket with insulation they are over $400, and you know Goretex and down is not a good mix.
Several people on our Japan tour last November were wearing those cheapies sewn through down jackets in the heavy rain and it reminded me of my down jackets getting soaked through 50 years ago in San Francisco. China sewn through down garments are so cheap now it’s very popular. Once you've
worn a wet down jacket in cold weather you will never wear it again.

MARINE CORPSE I G REPORT AND ADDITIONAL POINTS
There is nothing to report since they have yet to find all the words I believe, and I could be wrong to deny my protest. The IG probably gave his legal beagle team of 20 or 50 to find some loophole that will negate the protest. You know I do not care.
The Marine Corpse screwed me when they sent a captain to see me after I made the first 12 two bag systems for them in 1993 when none of the super-duper brands out there would. He took what I showed him back to Washington D.C. with what he supposedly learned, and he apparently learned nothing. He I guess went to Natick and shared that information with them and what Natick and Tennier Industries the government contraction came up with was a failure from the get-go and each time they tried to fix it they maintained the failed bag. They fixed nothing. The failed bag lasted from 1997 until 2015 and the kelty company still makes it. So, you see nobody associated with sleeping bags has learned anything in the past 30 or more years.
The screwed me around when I made the 6 sets of 50 two bags systems for test and evaluation and all the testers wanted my bag but that did not matter.
They screwed me around with the muk luks for the past year.
So, they are dead to me; marine corpse.
This is what they have done probably to many companies. But nobody stands up to them.
When it comes to cold weather apparel from foot to head as well as sleeping bags they are on a course of continued failure and they refuse to recognize this fact. When they have exhausted all options which the already but do not understand that fact, I will still be making the “SIMPLY THE BEST INSULATED PRODUCTS OF THEIR TYPE IN THE WORLD”!!!!!
For those who want to take the time of perusing the many emails I have published over the years you will find testimonials from soldiers of all the services praising their Wiggy product mostly sleeping bags and stating what they have been issued as a failure as well as what has been purchased such as snugpak that is trash, being they were never warm in them. But the units continue to but this trash from their own funds; our tax dollars, anyway.
I take great pride in receiving the testimonials that show up almost literally daily and I know that does not happen with any other company in the outdoor industry today nor has it happened in the past. But these military people do not care what is working for the civilians who are human just like the soldiers, so if it works for civilians it most definitely will work for the human soldier and that include the marines.
