THE HEALTH OF OUR PLANET?
But first a late arriving testimonial.
Hello Jerry & Team Wiggys,
I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you for creating such incredible thoughtfully designed products.
Specifically, the Lamilite socks which I received from my father as a Christmas gift this year.
I have been a skier for 25+ years and as much as I enjoy the sport, I dread how quickly my feet turn cold. I no longer have that problem with my lamilite socks. They are a miracle product that has restored comfort to long days on the slopes. I was recently skiing in Colorado at an elevation of 13,000 with gusty winds and 15 degree temperatures - feeling the most comfortable, dry and warm I've ever felt in a ski boot.
Looking forward to adding more of your revolutionary products to my life.
Much appreciated and hope your new year is off to a great start!
Best,
Kevin Falatko
I have had many people ask about the Lamilite socks for skiing many times. Since i stopped skiing 8 years ago I never used them for the sport. However i have had several write to me or call me saying they have used them very successfully, so now we know.
Thank you Kevin.
Dark Ice Project adds The Woolmark Company to its technical partners
The Woolmark Company is to be an official technical partner for the Dark Ice Project, an expedition involving UK polar explorers Alex Hibbert, George Bullard and James Wheeldon.
Below is who the woolmark company is. They do not as far as I know make anything. Also, 5 billion products are a lot of products, I would like to be the label supplier for them. I think that is a suspicious number.
The Woolmark
Company is the global authority on Merino wool and owns the Woolmark logo, a
quality assurance symbol applied to more than 5 billion products.
More is known about the surface of the moon than the Arctic Ocean in
winter, yet it provides a key barometer to the health of our planet, the
Woolmark company said on making the announcement. This project will involve
exploring new territory and making new discoveries in environmental science,
for example in research to uncover how microplastics behave in the water, snow
and ice.
If more is known about the moon than the Arctic Ocean in winter how do they know it is a key barometer to the health of our plant? If these three people are walking on ice how are they going to find “microplastic” material in the first place? How can the micro plastic material find its way all the way to the Arctic Ocean also in the first place? I assume these comments come from Stuart McCullough, the managing director of the woolmark company. The three explorers will embark on an unassisted six-month journey starting later this year, aiming to reach the geographical North Pole as the sun begins to rise in March 2021. They will travel first by boat, then ski for 70 days.
I am hard pressed to believe they, will be able
to take enough provisions that will last for the 70 days. I also, think since
this is not a competition, they should get assistance as is needed, so they can
accomplish their mission, which in my opinion is ridiculous.
Other technical partners for the project include adidas Terrex, Gore-Tex
and Amsterdam-based textile innovation studio Byborre. The Woolmark Company and
Byborre have developed a wool-rich baselayer and mid-layer system, using technical
Merino yarns from Südwolle, providing next-to-skin comfort, breathability and
protection from the elements.
Adidas Terrex must be their boots and from gore is garments made by some other company and finally byborre as far as I could research is a Japanese company. They make cold weather garments. I believe all down filled. The also, make base-layer and mid-layer garments. Here woolmark probably supplied the yarn for them as I believe from the pictures on their web site, they may have knitting machines.
As for next to skin comfort I believe that is a joke. If you are wearing merino wool base layer garments ALL of your moisture IS going to be absorbed by the wool fibers. There is no breathability of any consequence. There will not be protection from the elements because the worst possible condition has been made. That is the condition of trapping ALL of the perspiration from your body inside the garments. When the outside cold are permeates through the exterior parka which is down filled the moisture in the merino wool base layer will get cold and therefore you will get a serious chill.
These people at woolmark and their associates or partners obviously have zero knowledge of of ventilation and how important it is for the body to function correctly very much so in very cold conditions. They have know knowledge of the importance of fishnet underwear and how well it will work for these three men venturing on to the ice.
Stuart McCullough, managing director of the Woolmark Company, said: “The
Dark Ice Project not only reinforces our commitment to championing innovation
at the fibre, processing and garment stage, but also highlights our dedication
to promoting best-practice to ensure minimal impact on the environment. We are
proud to have partnered with this group of like-minded global leaders in
performance and innovation, challenging and inspiring us in new ways.”
I think the purpose of the dark ice project is for the woolmark company whose purpose is to promote wool since they are located in Australia a major wool producing country to use this “expedition” to promote wool. They champion innovation at the fibre and garment stage that does not exist. Wool is wool is wool. Their dedication is to themselves and their partnering with well known companies who also make product that does not work or perform is not a group of like-minded global leaders unless you think of them as charlatans. I call it birds of a feather.
These polar explorers are only interested in enjoying a paid holiday doing what they apparently like to do and will ultimately tell their sponsors what they want to hear. But I assure you they will probably not tell them the truth and if they did these companies will just not accept it, why (?) BECAUSE THEY CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
I personally believe the planet is healthy, however we have people on the planet who are not!
The outdoor retailer show is concluding in Denver, Colorado this week and there is a major amount of discussion about sustainability and circular use of clothing. The circular stuff has to do with you buying a garment and when you are wanting to replace it you can send it back to the company that made it, not all companies have this program, and get a new one, not for free but maybe at a discount, i do not know. The company then recycles it so you have this circular program going. However, there is a catch to all of this that deals with an unpleasant reality pertaining to the fabrics used to make these garments. I will go into depth in an article shortly. Not all appears as it seems.
