A SCANDAL
The sleeping bag debacle has become a scandal in Canada.
I was talking with the fellow who will be bidding my hypothermia bag.
Eventually I told him based upon the poor sleeping bags they probably had lots of hypothermia casualties which has caused them to look at getting them. I asked if he saw the article and he told me it was all over the news media and caused a scandal.
All are questioning where they got them because they were sold a bill of goods. If you recall in the article, they spent $34.8 million. He believes somebody is in trouble.
I said I can’t imagine how many bags they received. The people at Public Works that I delt with at that secret meeting were told the Antarctic was $250.00 they said it is too expensive. I just calculated if they bought $34.8 million dollars of my Antarctic bag, they would get 13920 of them.
They didn’t spend that much for what each bag they received, so they have a warehouse full of the debacle bags.
Ron Heubert from the university of Calgary wonders what sort of testing was done before they were ordered. To answer Ron’s question the answer was none.
The Department of National Defense said they went through a rigors “competitive” process which as I have learned dealing with military the low bidder gets the order.
Ron I am wrong they did test the bags as we now know after the fact. The test demonstrated that they wasted their money and they in charge have zero knowledge about sleeping bags. That lack of knowledge about sleeping bags is not unusual with government employees as I have learned when I was dealing with our crop of government employees at Natick Labs.
In my conversation with the man representing me I suggested that he show them my Antarctic bag which would negate the need for 400 hypothermia bags but they could buy 20.
He has bought them form me for the Canadian Coast Guard, he has one in his office.
I explained to him the history of Wiggy bags performing the task of keeping people warm and drying out overnight. So, if a soldier gets cold all he would need to do is get in his Wiggy Antarctic bag and in 15 minutes he would be warm and starting the drying out process.
They can look all over the world and will not find a 60 below F sleeping bag or any sleeping bag that acts successfully to cause the person to stay warm and dry as is the case with Wiggy’s bags in general. This is the reality of Wiggy’s bags. This is a reality of only one attribute that sets Wiggy’s bags apart from every other company that markets the “no sleep sleeping bag”. Of all of the attributes of my sleeping bags the one that I am most proud of is the one that they keep you warm and dry. This is an attribute I learned about from many of my customers who wrote to me their experience, it was not something I knew. So , it is because of my customers that i can say about my bags what I can. It was one more attribute I did not know when i started making Wiggy bags, so to all wrote to me a big THANK YOU.
The other thing I told my representative is that the Canadian could buy 50 from me now that they could get from Wiggy’s and send into the arctic now.
I will see if he can successfully get their attention.
