PrimaLoft, Inc. And Fiberpartner Announce New Global License Agreement

PR Partner Press Release*

Partnership expands application of PrimaLoft Bio to new markets

Latham, NY, July 1, 2020PrimaLoft, Inc., the leader in advanced material technology, today announced a new partnership agreement with Fiberpartner, a global supplier of stapled fibers, technical yarns and plastics. This new licensing agreement allows for Fiberpartner to develop the use of Primaloft’s groundbreaking PrimaLoft® Bio™ technology in multiple new industries.

Just a reminder to one and all, the original product trade named primaloft was a product of Albany international. They owner batting making machines that made fiberfill products from chopped staple fiber. They received as I recall two contracts from Natick Army Testing Labs to create an alternative to down. they came up with a fiber blend of fine denier fibers that could only make a low loft batting. Somehow this product proved worthy of being used by the Army. The reality IS they never developed a synthetic alternative to down when in fact what they made already existed since 1960. Their fiber blend was inferior to what already existed made from chopped staple fiber for fiberfill purposes. All of this activity took place in the 1980’s and continuous filament fiber by then was widely used both by the civilian and military markets.

If the primaloft company were the world leader in advanced material technology as they claim why do they continue to use chopped staple fiber for their fiberfill products when in fact chopped staple fiberfill in the light weights that they are restricted to making are NOT acceptable lower than 40 degrees in jackets and complete unacceptable in sleeping bags.

Fiberpartner CEO, Thomas Wittrup says, “We see an increasing demand for biodegradable polyester, and consider PrimaLoft’s technology to be a game-changer. The staple fibers produced with PrimaLoft® Bio™ from Fiberpartner will be developed to supplement regular polyester fiber for use in a variety of applications. Together, we can begin the journey towards a more sustainable world.”

I do not know what planet Wittrup lives on but I have never spoken with a single person asking for biodegradable polyester garments with biodegradable insulation. I have spoken with numerous people who enjoy having Wiggy’s products that last for years, like 25 or more. Primaloft is always trying to hang their hat on something that they think will capture an audience for their product. they only make one with a multitude of names. Maybe the planet that Wittrup lives on needs to be a more sustainable world, but here on earth we are doing fine.

PrimaLoft® Bio™ is made from biodegradable*, 100% recycled fibers that break down when exposed to specific environments – such as landfills, oceans and wastewater systems. PrimaLoft® Bio™ enhances fibers to be more attractive to naturally-occurring microbes found in these environments; in so doing, fibers are broken down at a faster rate, returning polyester to natural elements. These fibers maintain their structure throughout use, only biodegrading* when exposed to the naturally-occurring microorganisms found in landfills or marine environments.

Maybe the primaloft bio needs to be on the planet Wittrup is living on so the primaloft bio will be exposed to that specific environment, but if it breaks down on earth the end result will be chemicals that are more damaging than regular polyester which may not breakdown for thousands of years. What if the naturally occurring microbes aren’t attracted to these enhanced fibers. Is that is the case the fibers are not broken down at a faster rate but not at all. Are you wearing hip boot or chest waders yet?

Mike Joyce, president and CEO of PrimaLoft adds, “PrimaLoft® Bio™ is an important step forward in providing sustainable solutions for microfiber pollution, throughout the entire life-cycle of a product. We are excited to begin this relationship with Fiberpartner and to bring this responsible technology to a multitude of industries.”

Mike the only sustainable solution is if the components that you supply to manufacturers will and can last for a very long time, like say continuous filament fiberfill for insulation. It does not will last for years versus the chopped staple fiberfill product you peddle, which if lucky will last for a season but still does not keep one warm below 40 degrees. what you have is not sustainable, never has been, so it never will. To understand why it breaks down as quickly as it does, I suggest you take one of your jackets and launder it in a washing machine and of course, make sure it is insulated with primaloft.

These companies are just an example of the shady methods that are incorporated by companies these days that will give them a leg up in the world of business. They do not know how to make a good product to begin with as is the case with primaloft so they have to look for angles to get around their lack of knowledge. The coronavirus will weed out the incompetent as well as the unfortunate.

And just to make something PERFECTLY CLEAR no matter how many times you look in the mirror and say primaloft is the leader in the field of insulation it just ain't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
