It's about 100 degrees F. every day here in Korea right now. Can't wait for late fall so I can test out my woodland camo parka with hood I got on discount/closeout.

My issue sleeping bag stays in the duffel bag, and will be turned in unused by me. I use any combination of your poncho liner, bivy, and Lamilite bags from desert bag to the multi-component sleep system you designed and I have used since 1995.

The Lamilite socks are damn near a revolution in military affairs from the standpoint of anyone who has to keep his feet warm and dry.

All of your stuff has met and generally exceeded my expectations. Keep it up!

THE OUTDOOR RETAILER TRADE SHOW

This weekend is the demo weekend and the actual show opens tomorrow. But they do publish products and various other bits of information about what you will see if you attended the show.

What was of interest to me were the comments from a retailer and a marketer of sleeping bags about size. John Crowley of Mammoth Mountain Supply located in Bishop, CA. (I do not know him nor have I heard of the shop) reports “that interest is on the rise for generously cut mummy bags or rectangular bags. Customers don’t mind the extra half pound. Big Agnes was quoted as saying “spacious in all the right places”. That must mean the entire bag is larger. Imagine that!

And here I have been making generous size bags since day one. There are now and have been many people in the outdoor industry who are very hard headed but when they see that they are losing business to me because my bags are made for creature comfort and do not give away performance they are trying to copy me. Now if they were to order Lamilite maybe they would be able to compete.

Do you recall the recent article about recycling polyester trash and how it gets weaker that virgin polyester well Primaloft Company published that they rescued 84.7 million plastic bottles and transformed them into “high performance insulation”. That my friends is impossible because they do not make “high performance insulation” to begin with! However, we do know that the new insulation that they are claiming to be made from this recycled polyester will lose its loft even faster than what they have been selling.

Gore had an ad showing a picture of what looked to me a teenage girl wearing a colorful rain coat and the caption on the ad was “TESTED FOR LIFE”. If this girl were to live for 100 years and used this garment all of those years she would find out that having tested this garment for her lifetime it still would not work. Will gore ever fess up and apologize to the public for lying to them for all of the years they have been marketing this garbage; Not likely!

I also noted more companies offering materials that have been treated with chemicals that will “whisk away your sweat”. The best way to get cool when you are hot is to sweat. That moisture coming out of the human body condenses very quickly on the skin surface for one specific reason to cool the human body. If you could bypass the condensing step you would probably over heat and pass out or maybe even die. Then you would be in a pickle; Ollie!
