Hi Jerry,
I received your new boots a little over a week ago. The sizing, I wear a 10M and ordered same, is spot on. I was a little concerned about the lacing system at first; being that they are all eyelets, but the laces are nicely long and I don't need to unlace the boots to take them on or off, only loosen the laces. This is great, especially because eyelets don't catch on grass or fail like hooks or speed laces will.
So far I've worn the boots in temperatures around freezing and up to 65 degree F. With my normal Darn Tough wool socks, they are very comfortable and my feet stay dry. They are so much more comfortable than my Danner Gore-Tex/Thinsulate boots! I tried out the Lamilite socks and found that they made the boots a little too warm for the current weather conditions.
Lastly, the boots are very nicely made and comfortable. I appreciate the smooth finish that can take a polish if needed.
Thank you for bringing a great, USA-made, product to the market!

The above testimonial brought to mind a visit I made to the Danner factory in Portland Oregon about 8 or 9 years ago. My purpose was to introduce them to Lamilite insulation as a replacement for Thinsulate. Obviously they were not interested since Danner boots do not contain Lamilite to this day. While in Portland I also visited Columbia Sportswear and spoke with the people involved with their footwear products; their response was simple and very direct and I quote; “regardless of the quality and performance of the component we will not buy it and ship it to Asia”. My next activity out there was to tour the coast of Oregon and Washington all the way to Port Angeles and then take the ferry to Victoria, B.C. I highly recommend the trip without seeing Danner or Columbia.
I wonder if any of the employees of these companies take the time to read my newsletter/commentary where customers of Wiggy’s state information that confirms all of what I have said about the lack of performance of the components such as Gore-Tex and Thinsulate which leads to lack of performance of the finished product. In this case Danner has a whole lot of company. Why would their boot not perform and every other boot maker using the same components perform? The answer is that NOT a one of the companies that either makes or gets made for them boots with these two components because they never perform as is claimed in their advertising.
I suspect if the many men who have over the years purchased boots made with these components were of the mind to return them to the stores they were purchased at now that they know the truth as to why the boots did not perform as advertised the store owners might go back to the makers and complain, and of course these customers should request a refund from the retailers.
When I consider the number of men that have told me in no uncertain terms they have cold and wet feet wearing boots made with these components why should there be any customers not having the same experience? My guess is that all have the same experience.
The question becomes when will those in charge of what is used in the manufacture of this footwear step up and say we have a problem, etc.? I for one do not know if that will ever happen even though as I found out in conversation with a person in the research and development area of Bates Shoes a subsidiary of Wolverine World Wide that they know there is a moisture retention problem but refuse to even look at changing to a product that ends the problem; i.e. Lamilite!
To one and all who have purchased the new Wiggy’s Lamilite boots: Happy Walking!
