I just returned home from 10days of primitive woods camping and my Wiggys bag and booties were a blessing once again.
Temperatures dropped and chilling winds with light rain never affected my night sleep. In fact, the pad performance beat out those that had wool blankets under and over their shaking misery.
Not once did I have to have extra cover as I slept perfectly.
I appreciated the great zipper function as others got their other zipper bags from "prominent" snagged and begged for assistance in trying to get out.
Fortunately, I was able to enjoy this adventure and have constantly recommended your products to deaf ears for some that will never learn.
Thanks for your sleeveless vest that I recently purchased as it also provided great comfort and I never got chills up the back which can be miserable when moving around.
Although I'm admitting my age of 74, I just wish the idiots that follow other manufacturing equipment for camping and suffer the consequences would at least try your product.
Thanks for letting me vent and until I can't venture out the door and enjoy the elements you can bet; I'll laugh at those that have wasted their money on useless unnamed manufactured products and suffer the consequences.
Stay safe and healthy and thanks again.

Good afternoon...I went for my daily walk this morning around 8:30. It was 7 degrees above....and windy. There are usually many people at this dam where I go and most of them with dogs. This morning there was no one. As I walked along the dam fighting the wind, I was so grateful for my Wiggys clothing. The balaclava weighs about as much as a facecloth and is very warm. I cinched it snug and was quite comfortable. Underneath the L6 pullover I had a nylon t shirt and a lightweight fleece top. Even as the wind was blowing my 70 year old body around I was warm as toast. We usually don't get weather this cold in central Mass. but I guess it doesn't matter if your dressed in your Wiggys clothing! When I got back to my truck and took the balaclava off I was pleasantly surprised that my head was dry as a wishbone...no sweat! Thank you for clothing that works. yours truly, John Orlando
I bought the super mitt. I am from
Canada and work outside. Wanted something that would warm my hands after I
have them out working barehanded. These week was -25C. They worked exactly as
I hoped they would. The only gear I own that actually warms up cold hands Thanks Keith |
Did you realize that one quarter of the USA is perpetually humid? That quarter I am referring to starts at the coast of South Carolina extends westward to the Mississippi River and then north to Canada and along the USA Canadian border east to Maine. The population being over 50 million. They all live in a humid climate.
They all experience how cold it can get because of the humidity and all feel the cold through their clothing. When I lived in N.Y.C. in the 60’s and when winter brought sub-freezing temperature to the city and the wind would blow the cold seemed to just penetrate through the clothing you were wearing and you thought you were wearing enough layers.
The problem was an incorrect first layer that if changed to fishnets would help immensely. Back then very few knew about fishnets. And there were no companies in the USA making fishnet underwear. There was a company in Norway making them and I think they were sold to retail stores in the USA but not for long. Brynje the manufacturer had no knowledge of how to market them, and still don’t know. But any who did buy them did learn they were a benefit.
The second material that would be beneficial did not really exist and that is continuous filament fiber. It came to the forefront of possible use in the late 60’s but no one knew how to use it or were they inclined to learn. If incorporated back then people would have been much warmer.
Today both products exist and are used.
That said, to this day the vast majority of people who live in this region of the country suffer when it gets cold. Why(?) because they are wearing clothing that very successfully retains the moisture coming out of their pores which is migrating into their clothing. outside the cold air is settling all around them and as it migrates into their clothing once it reaches the moisture that very moisture you have produces chills and it reaches back to you to get more heat. As such the faster you lose your heat to your moisture it causes your metabolic rate to increase. You are now consuming your fuel much faster. Once it is gone your body stars to consume your fat and when it is gone your body starts to consume your muscle.
In order to stop the process in its tracks you must wear fishnet underwear as a base layer, over then loose fitting clothing so you are able to create a bellows action. The extra layers should for best results be vapor permeable and non-moisture absorbing.
The final layer: a Lamilite insulated parka will have a significant affect. On the inside of the garment the insulation is trapping your body heat while allowing your body produced moisture to easily escape through the Lamilite. On the outside the loft of the Lamilite and its strength to stay lofty regardless of the wind velocity so it keeps the cold from penetrating into the garment.
There is no human on the planet that can disagree with what I have just said since I was out there experiencing being in a -20 degree f sustained cold with periodic 40/50 knot winds creating about -50 degrees F wind chill while wearing fishnets cotton shirt and my Antarctic parka for 3 days. I was never cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, where I was, was dry versus humid but I do not think it mattered. All of the people who live in a humid environment where it gets cold know all about getting chilled not a chill but chilled. All because they have been dressing incorrectly for many years and of course listening to the erroneous messages that come from companies like Patagonia, north face, mountain Hardwear, Polartec, need I go on.
Unfortunately, all of the new fangled materials that these companies have been presenting in the products they sell are worthless north of the Florida Keys in July.
At the moment the quarter of the country I have pointed out is experiencing cold and snowy weather and can attest to experiencing what I have written. If you live in the environment you now know what to wear.
