THE OUTDOOR INDUSTRY IS MADE UP OF COMEDIANS
Outdoor Retailer will recognize innovation and achievements in the outdoor industry with the debut of the Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards.
This is first sentence is a contradiction in terms. There is no innovation in the outdoor industry at this time.
Showcasing the cutting-edge products and brands pushing the limits in outdoor gear, retail services and materials technology, winners will be determined by a panel of judges and celebrated at a live awards show. The inaugural awards ceremony will take place on the first night of this year’s Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
When they say cutting edge products they must be referring to knives. All of the outdoor gear shown at this show has not changed for the better for years. Retail service sucks. There is no material technology just talked of technology and talk is cheap.
“We’re excited to unveil the Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards at Winter Market,” said Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer vice president and show director. “Innovation remains a centerpiece in our industry.
Once again a contradiction in terms! The one thing that stands out as a false innovation in the outdoor industry is waterproof breathable material from the greatest lying company in the industry Gore. After Gore there are a host of companies that offer false products by the score.
We are all searching for lighter, faster, stronger and technically superior.
What are they referring too that is lighter, stronger and technically superior to what? The answer is a BLANK.
A panel of luminaries, designers, retailers and media will evaluate entries based on a variety of factors, including concept, design, functionality, originality, sustainability and impact.
All of the people who are referenced have no knowledge of what they are looking at. If they did they would know to reject everything they are shown as being non-functional.
All in the industry are birds of a feather, they all lack knowledge of what to do to create. After they give out these awards all will applaud them- selves and laugh because they are all comedians.
WEATHER
There is a definite cooling taking place at least in Colorado and the western states in general and that is a sign of things to come. The question is how quickly we will see definite winter.
Be prepared because the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting we will have a cold one. Probably the most important part of our body to keep warm is our feet. Sales of Lamilite socks are I am happy to say very robust. I attribute the sales to the number of people who have written to me praising how well they have performed in the field.
Ducksback garments are also seeing a rise in sales as people who happen to own one have shared their experience with friends who are now making a purchase. Word of mouth advertising is great. Would I get more activity if some guy who offers himself for pay as a representative for my products generate more sales because he likes to climb for a living, I doubt it would happen. My prices would have to reflect his cost to Wiggy’s. I think all of these climbers should get a real job.
Sleeping bag sales have been extremely strong possibly because people are making preparations for a cold winter and want to save on their heating bills.
Mittens specifically the Kodiak sold very well last winter to the point that some people had to wait. So far they are starting to sell for the coming winter, so I ask that you get orders in now so you who want a pair do not have to wait when the cold is upon us. Historically the Kodiak is a reproduction of a Grandoe Glove Company model called the boxing glove. Grandoe is long gone but I still have the pair I bought from them in 1968. I used them for 40 years when I skied, best mittens I ever had until the Kodiaks.
You know of course the reason my products perform as well as they do is because of the Lamilite/Climashield insulation. IF other companies decide to relocate their manufacturing back in the USA they too will be able to buy the Lamilite/Climashield from Wiggy’s and then they too will be able to say their products work as well as Wiggy’s, so long as they adhere to my formula of weights. Is that a pipe dream on my part or what!
Then they may really find a creative person to give one of their awards too.
