The article from yesterday had the following letter and report scanned to the article but it was not copied and sent with the article. My web site guru explained why, not that I fully comprehended his explanation. He knows his stuff and I know  mine. When you view the letter note the date of May 10, 1978.

WHERE ARE THEY?

For the past few years I have reported on the latest and greatest of insulations to enter into the marketplace. All flash in the pan products that lasted maybe one year.

North face changed from Climashield to heat seeker, where is it today still trying the find heat?

Eddie bauer had their unquilted down called evertherm when was it last heard of?

Thermore a new vegan insulation peta approved. Ever see a garment with it certainly not a sleeping bag.

The various polar tec materials. Ever see it in a cold weather garment or sleeping bag? no!!!

Primalofts array of materials to include the biodegrade able version. Have you ever seen any in stores? They tried to convince the military to use their trash in sleeping bags but it didn’t work as all of the other concoctions they have put together.

For years there have been people peddling foam insulated products. Since foam has been around longer than polyester fiber if it was so good why has it NEVER caught on, because its is not good and it can be dangerous.

How about Columbia sportswear’s omniheat, where is it today?

The insulation of the future from cellient a chemical company mixed with merino wool. Did it ever get made? No.

Outdoor research had an insulation revolution but what was it, I have yet to hear that it occurred.

According to a company called serius they had a heat wave revolution, when and where?

Mountain Hardwear had the thermal q product and then lamina where are these products today?

Then there are the ever popular Thermoballs for north face.

Then there was the ever popular thindown which I believe is the same as evertherm.

Gore even got into the act with their thermium.

Then there is the ever popular Thinsulate.

This is a list of products that may have appeared in the business journals but maybe never made it to the public except in a garment but maybe in a garment here and there. Had any of these products sold well you would still be hearing about the wonders of them.

The reality is the companies that promoted these products are not offering them any longer and the people who were the promotors for these companies are also no longer with the companies.

If they ever had a really good product they would still want to go with the latest and greatest being put before them.

Isn’t it nice to know that there is one trusted brand that never makes changes just for the sake of change? That of course is Wiggy’s, because when you have a product that works beyond what it is advertised to work at there is no need to change anything. People who bought my bags 30 years ago are not biologically different than people who buy them today nor will people alive 40 years from now be any different biologically than those from 30 years ago.

That said if the bags and other products that are made at Wiggy’s worked in 1988 for the humans that bought them at that time they will certainly work for the current species of human as well as future humans.

aerogel will follow the same fate as those I have noted above. I just recalled a guy who came to see me probably 10 or so years ago from New Mexico who had received a million dollar grant I believe from the U.S.Navy to develop an insulation. his knowledge was nil as I found out and he wanted to get information from me. I never heard from him again nor have I ever heard through the grapevine of the military what happened. He probably went to cancun to drink mai tais on the beach.
