consumer protection?

WHY DOESN’T THE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY INVESTIGATE?

“The FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection stops unfair, deceptive and fraudulent business practices by collecting reports from consumers and conducting investigations, suing companies and people that break the law, developing rules to maintain a fair marketplace, and educating consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities”.

In order for the FTC to proceed with investigating companies that use “deceptive and fraudulent business practices by collecting reports from consumers”. Those reports would say that the product does not work as advertised. Unfortunately, people who buy clothing items will not write to the FTC.

The FTC will not act on their own questioning if a product actually works as advertised. Maybe they should require companies to demonstrate to them it does as they advertise it. But this is not what they do, they sit on their butts waiting for hundreds or thousands of consumers to write to them, when it comes to clothing this will not happen.

Having exceptional knowledge of polyester fiberfill used for insulation purposed when 3-M started selling their Thinsulate for jackets and then Lite loft for sleeping bags I exposed them as very poor products that would perform for the use intended. They spent thousands of dollars advertising and the manufacturers bought in and their garments were sold to the general public, consumers. The consumers bought these garments and found out they were not keeping them warm so in about two seasons the produce disappeared from the skiwear marketplace. However, I do see garment in places like Bass pro selling hunting apparel with it. All these garments are made in Asia. It is also used in US military rainwear. So, it is still alive.

3-M was desperate to get into the sleeping bag market so they created a product called Lite loft, a polyester fiberfill made with polypropylene fiber. In an over that the fiber traveled through the polypropylene would liquify and became the binder for the fibers. This product was the forerunner of the Primaloft. The Lite loft was picked up by a sleeping bag manufacturer big time. I personally believe their bags were so bad that the returns put them out of business, my opinion. It was as far as I know removed from sales.

Hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars were spent by consumers on these fraudulently advertised products. Had the FTC required proof of use they would have never allowed these products on the market in the first place.

In the early 1980’s Albany International made and patented an almost exact product that was made with very similar fibers that were not coated with a polypropylene sheath acting as a binder but were held together by a low melt fiber mixed in with the polyester fiber that was activated when the web was heated in an oven and they would melt and join the fibers. In REALITY I stress these two products when you looked at them and felt them, they were indistinguishable. Further the Albany company made this product as an and I quote the headline of the report “DEVELOPMENT OF SYNTHETIC DOWN ALTERNATIVES”. I have a copy and have wondered how the government [Natick labs who knew about synthetics could be fooled by Albany] who paid about $700.000.00 to get what existed. They patented it.

Albany also wanted to get into the sleeping bag supply business with the government. Their product failed successfully like the Lite loft did in the consumer market. If memory serves correctly, they also tried the consumer market with no success.

Now we come to the greatest non-performing product on the market GORETEX.

Just a video I came across on YouTube Tube. Confirms what an increasingly large number of people are starting to realize. Thanks for all.

The SCAM Outdoor Brands Don't Want You To Know

I have said plenty of times how goretex is a scam. The above u-tube video is proof from many, it says it all. It has been sent to me from many several times. Had the government FTC employees required proof they would never have received it from bill and bobby gore because it doesn’t exist. Bobby believe it or not was inducted into the inventor’s hall of fame for inventing something that doesn’t work.

The FTC requires the consumer to do their job, maybe they should view the video. If they do, will they now stop ALL sales of the so called waterproof breathable materials and garments.

Could you imagine what would happen, retail sales would plummet and in order to get rid of garments the prices would crash.

Companies like gore, 3-m, primaloft, ll bean, rei, bass pro, cabelas, dicks., wolverine and so many more have no interest in providing the consumers with products that they HONESTLY ADVERTISE because they know what they are offering the consumer does not work as advertised.

I have a recommendation for the manufacturers who make rainwear. Buy your fabrics with a ½ ounce urethane counting that costa about $0.50 a yard and you now have the EXACT same properties as goretex and all of the copycats. You wouldn’t even have to seam tape a costly operation.

All the guys who bought into goretex should learn about the materials before getting on board if they really believe in what they are offering to the consumers, personally I do not think they care.

So, start sending the FTC you complaints about the fabrics used to make the garments you buy that don’t work as advertised.
