consumer reports and the nba

CONSUMER REPORTS

One of my readers wrote to me after my article titled “a question-why not” explaining why major companies choose not to attack their critics suggesting a class action law suit might be in order. He also said something to the effect that consumer reports may have reviewed the waterproof breathable claims. I had never thought of them doing a study of rainwear.

I have scoured the consumer reports web site and not only found nothing but they ask for different words possibly. Regardless of the word description they have no reports on the subject.

I looked up their phone number but as expected you cannot get to speak with a human. So I was not able to ask a human if they ever did a report on rainwear that was/is made from materials that are supposedly waterproof and breathable.

It would not surprise me to discover they have never done such a study. Why not, well if you have a conspiracy mind as I do on occasion I would not be surprised if they were told not to bother. Imagine if consumer reports were to look carefully at this product 40 or so years ago since it was booming at the time and discovered what we know today about the products ability not to work it would not necessarily have made it on the market for very long. Consumer reports claims to know best when they test products.

“IF” any of you out there can find a study by consumer reports about the waterproof breathable materials or rain garments please direct me to it.

THE NBA CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

No doubt the LJ is by himself the best player in the league. However, I believe he has improved in a very critical area of his game and that is assisting his team mates. He has significant trust in them because he is finding them open. Yes they are missing shots but that does not stifle LJ from continuing to feed them the ball when they are open because he knows at some point these guys will make shots. Never forget these guys are professional, and have pride and are striving to do well. So I would not count them out so fast. Also, the sweep last year I do not believe for one moment will be repeated.  I also believe if they can stay within 10 points of GS in the last two minutes LJ is easily capable of taking over the game.

As for GS they can shoot your eyes out but C will probably push them to the limit with their defense.

I fully expect the series to go 7 games. I think it is a tossup as to who wins.

Bill Russell once told LJ that basketball is a team game and I think it has made its mark on him. What the record keepers do not report are the number of passes he makes to team mates when they miss, but so long as a guy gets free he is apt to get the ball again. Keep in mind BR was the key to 11 championship seasons so you can’t argue with success. One other observation is that BR, LJ and MJ demonstrated that they had or have the will to win more so than any others that I have seen since I have been watching pro basketball and that goes back to pre-24 second clock days.
