Elkton, MD, (February 21, 2019)– The GORE-TEX brand is the gold standard for living life outdoors. GORE-TEX technologies in apparel and footwear improve people’s active lives in a myriad of ways.
Since verde probably wrote all of the copy you will read I guess they decided to award gore with the “gold standard” title. It is obvious that they do not know that the goretex technology is responsible for foot sores in footwear. As for apparel, if you want to sweat and then freeze because your very own moisture is trapped in your jacket I don’t see how that has improved life. Does that sound like a reason to give “gold standard” recognition?
But what, exactly, does that that look like in real life? The options are so limitless that W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore), makers of GORE-TEX products, is asking consumers to show how the GORE-TEX brand makes a difference for them – how they use their favorite GORE-TEX products in everyday life. Creativity is encouraged. Fun and spontaneity will be rewarded.
Imagine gore has been hawking goretex for 40 years and now they are ASKING buyers of products that utilize goretex to tell them about it and how they have somehow benefitted. If these customers were to get their money back that would be reward enough.
Between now and April 18, 2019, Gore, via its TESTED FOR LIFE Tryouts Challenge, is inviting avid users of GORE-TEX products to showcase how they use them, and how GORE-TEX technology allows them to take their favorite and/or everyday activities to a new level. GORE-TEX consumers can share their photos and video for a chance to win an array of prizes.
The last sentence tells all, if you tell us what we want to hear we will give you the “chance” to win an array of prizes. It seems to me that people who have been unfortunately buying products made with the goretex or any of the knock offs for the past 40 would have written to them praising the material if it really worked. Based upon the letters I have received from people who have spent money on goretex products they say unequivocally that it doesn’t. I wonder how many people have written directly to gore stating they have not experienced what the advertising states.

Between now and April 18, 2019, consumerscan upload a short #TestedForLife Tryouts video to showcase how they use GORE-TEX gear in action. Their inspiration can be anything – something funny, something unexpected, intense mountain ascents, epic snowball fights, downtown puddle-leaping, urban all-weather commutes – as long as it demonstrates how they use GORE-TEX products to help take their active life to another level.
The verde people are very sophomoric with their request of information here. What level are they thinking people can attain by wearing a garment made with a non-functioning material. The answer is a level of discomfort I guess that is another level.
From April 20until May 20, a round of voting will take place, highlighting the most creative and unique submissions. Winners will be selected by the GORE-TEX brand based on creativity, use of the product, and the number of votes the entry receives. The winners will be announced on June 26, 2019.
Unless people present them with outrageous accounts that are surely unbelievable and that would be creative they may otherwise receive more poignant letters from people discusted with having paid for a product that utilizes goretex that simply put does not function as advertised.
Three videos from GORE-TEX users in the U.S. (except for the state of Rhode Island) will be selected as winners (other similar events are being run in Europe and Asia). Prizes include:
An invite to become a member of the GORE-TEX Tryouts Team, which includes the opportunity to test new product technologies and attend partner events.
Fantastic you get compensated for your efforts.
An all-expense paid trip to Gore’s headquarters in Newark, Delaware, birthplace of the GORE-TEX brand and location of Gore’s R+D labs and test facilities, including the famous “Rain Room.”
Having spent time in Delaware I am very sure there are more interesting places to visit. Going through the gore facility is tantamount to going to a reeducation center in say China.
A $1,500 shopping spree at the on-site Gore Store.
Just think now you can chose $1500.00 worth of product that will not work, but at the least you are not paying for it.
In addition, 20 people who submit votes on videos will win a pair of GORE-TEX INFINIUM™STRETCH gloves. Winners will be randomly chosen and people can vote daily.
I know nothing about infinium material but if the gloves are supposed to keep your hands warm, well don’t count on it. The videos might be fit for the funniest videos in America program.

The verde people are so full of themselves about gore it is a sign that they do not care that they have been hired to promote the unprovable. How can you revolutionize an industry with a material that DOES NOT WORK (since verde reads my articles I wrote the last three words large for them to read, not that they will understand). For the last 40 years a multitude of companies have surfaced with their own brand of wp/b material claiming theirs is superior to goretex. They are wrong, theirs is just as bad a product as goretex; theirs also does not work.
Now for verde; they are located in boulder Colorado just 250 miles from Grand Junction Colorado. I invite you to visit with me to prove to me that the failure of goretex for the past 40 years is not true by showing me that it works. Your web site shows people with bicycles, as well as doing other outdoor activities which are plentiful here on the western slope. I await a call from you to arrange a meeting.
Below is a letter I received last night from a customer expressing his thoughts about two new items purchased. He has probably a dozen already. I have reprinted it as an example of letters I get from customers and I have never suggested that people write because I will “reward” them with some form of compensation. I have been receiving letters since about 1990. Early on before emails became the way to communicate I received hand written letters. For any who did write to me trust me I still have them.
Hi Jerry,
My Urban Parka and the Sierra Mittens arrived today (Finally!). I just wanted to let you know I’m very satisfied with them. Since I already own several other Wiggy’s products, I’m sure these will perform as expected (The parka is my first Ducksback fabric item, so I’ll be interested to experience the vaunted rain-shedding feature.) Thanks, John
So verde company you have been hired to try and get for gore what they have never gotten on their own, letters of praise voluntarily sent to them. Maybe payment in some manner which is how gore does things will get you some response.
And one more thought; do you think that gore finally got tired of knowing they never receive unsolicited testimonials so they hired a company to create a program that might get people to write nice things about goretex? I wonder if they get letters that are just the opposite of what they are hoping for. Have I gotten into their heads?
