Presidential Executive Order on Buy American and Hire American

EXECUTIVE ORDER by Donald Trump- April 18, 2017

a) “Buy American Laws” means all statutes, regulations, rules, and Executive Orders relating to Federal procurement or Federal grants including those that refer to “Buy America” or “Buy American” that require, or provide a preference for, the purchase or acquisition of goods, products, or materials produced in the United States, including iron, steel, and manufactured goods.

1. Buy American Laws. In order to promote economic and national security and to help stimulate economic growth, create good jobs at decent wages, strengthen our middle class, and support the American manufacturing and defense industrial bases, it shall be the policy of the executive branch to maximize, consistent with law, through terms and conditions of Federal financial assistance awards and Federal procurements, the use of goods, products, and materials produced in the United States.

Here are two paragraphs that I found in the Presidential order that should be helpful to all companies like Wiggy’s that produce their products in the U.S.A. utilizing components produced in the U.S.A.

I have written for years about poor quality non-functioning products that are not now nor have ever been produced in the U.S.A. that just happen to be less costly than mine, and therefore I have lost sales. Of course the military personnel who have been and are still issued these products find that they are not very good to begin with.

Now maybe ALL of the individuals charged with placing solicitations will write them stating that the products MUST BE MADE IN AMERICA using AMERICAN MADE COMPONENTS.

This will go a long way with the government actually buying the best products available for the military personnel to whom these products are issued. It will free up companies from looking at components that could be used that are of poor quality. I am sure some companies buy such components just to be competitive.

I do not know at this time how comprehensive the executive order is, I can only hope for the best.
