FLOTATION MITTENS
This past week I was thinking about making about making flotation mittens for fisherman who fish during the colder months on the water. Then I remembered I already had this product.
About 30 years ago I was working with the Navy Natick Labs and we developed a mitten for use on submarines for working with steam pipes. That is all I know of as to how they are used.
The shell material of these mittens is our 200 denier oxford nylon in the color orange. The fabric id laminated to a flotation foam. The insulation is the L-12 Lamilite. It also has a high gauntlet just like the super mitten.
They will be oblivious to the water. The exterior fabric has outstanding protection from wind. In the event water gets into the mitten your hands will not get cold. Wet Lamilite has a reputation of keeping you warm in any of our garments an especially our sleeping bags.
Of course, the beauty of the mittens is that they float if on a boat and somehow get knocked overboard.
It is important to understand that I am not offering them for sale to be used for having anything to do with steam pipes. As I said I have known knowledge of how the Navy uses them. I just see them as extremely warm mittens when working around water during the winter months. They will be very warm in any cold weather situation when in the mountains. I expect -20 to -30 degrees F is realistic. I AM VERY SURE ICE FISHERMAN WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE THESE MITTENS.
The price is $135.00 per pair.
