This is a first for me, first that the socks will be written up for use by runners and two that the gear editor has not asked for a pair. The socks have gone from hunters and construction workers to bicyclists and now runners. You can also include people who suffer from Raynaud’s disease, or cold feet due to being diabetic or any number of reasons causing cold feet.

An important reason is to help people who have purchased boots that are lined with goretex or the like who always have cold feet when wearing those boots. At the least the moisture from your feet will move away from you even though it does not get out of the boots but it does not touch your skin again. It works the same way that the fishnets work.

The next time these people who have goretex or the like lined boots need to replace them maybe they will look for boots that do not have that trash in them. I make boots that do not have that trash in them just Lamilite.

CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

BIOMIMETICS

Have you ever heard the word biomimetics? I have not but I did read an article about what textile or related textile companies are doing with biomimetics.

I had to look up the word having never read it before so I did not know what its definition is; that is what follows.

“The study and development of synthetic systems that mimic the formation, function, or structure of biologically produced substances and materials and biological mechanisms and processes”.

I will be writing an article over the weekend explaining how this is being applied to textile fabrics that if true would make the most unbelievable garments you could imagine or so the fabric manufacturers supposedly believe. I think they really don’t believe their own B/S but are only looking for an edge in competing with other fabric manufacturers who have at the moment a better B/S story than they have.

In the textile industry the only material that I have encountered that is synthetic that truly out performs the natural version is continuous filament fiber for use as insulation. I do not know everything so if anyone out there has knowledge of something else please let us know.
