AN INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT ABOUT BOOTS
Since the boot industry worked against me I as I have reported decided to forgo being in the boot business. However, as I have been running out of stock on various sizes I am getting requests when they when they will be back in stock. I have no choice but to tell each of these potential or already customers they are basically out of luck.
Maybe one of the boot companies will bite the bullet and start making them here as I would be happy to sell them the Lamilite. However I do not think that will happen anytime soon. One reader sent me an article about tariffs and in the article the writer claimed that 98 percent of all footwear sold in the USA comes from China or elsewhere in Asia. The article also spoke of the construction of products and certain thicknesses of rubber are taxed at lower rates so the quality of these footwear items will be even worse quality than what comes in to the country now.
This same technique to keep prices low for jackets is also taking place and has for quite a while. That explains why the jackets commonly referred to as winter jackets are not. It also explains why these companies like Columbia, TNF, and all of the other well-known brands are trying to convince the buying public that they have a new insulation. The current state of the weather should convince a multitude that they have wasted money.
Back to footwear; my advice is to purchase leather boots with Vibram soles so they can be re-soled and NO goretex or Thinsulate. Then get Lamilite socks and if you are living in an area that sees sub-freezing temperatures get the Lamilite insulated over boots. You will have warm feet to a temperature of -30 F.
Business for Wiggy’s so far this winter has been superb and I am very grateful for all of the orders that I have received. We are working as diligently as we can to ship as quickly as possible.
It has made for a very happy thanksgiving holiday for me and my staff. I trust that all of you too have had a happy thanksgiving as well.
