TESTIMONIALS

Hello Jerry,

I enjoyed the outdoor show update. I got to go out hunting again today and it was in the 30's that's after over 2 weeks of below freezing temps. Needless to say the ground was either still frozen or as wet and muddy as it can get. But all i had on my feet were your liners and a pair of uninsulated and non-waterproof boots. Did my feet get wet? Yep, but they stayed warm the entire time. In fact I felt that when the sun came out they even dried as I was sitting there. I also waited to put on the jacket liner until I made my hike up the mountain today. When I did I was so toasty and comfortable I almost feel asleep especially with a mountain steam gargling right beside me. I think I would have if 2 woodpeckers didn't land on the tree I was sitting in and start pecking away for hours. After using your gear now in temps from 7 degrees to temps in the 30's I feel that my purchases from you were some of the best I've made on outdoor gear!

Thanks,

Ken

Follow up to one item not noted by me in yesterday’s article; the fact that bean is going to be offering these sleeping bags made with primaloft plus sand (aerogel). I believe the buyers who work for bean have no knowledge of offering primaloft sleeping bags in the early 1990’s that were a failure. I knew the guy who made them very well and I told him when he gleefully sent me an email advising me that he had this order for 112 or 120 from them. I told him at the time they would fail as they did. Prior to this failure bean sponsored the peace climb of Everest which had climbers from all over the world and the clothing insulated if you can call it that with primaloft also failed. I guess there is the philosophy if you don’t succeed try and try again. In this case success is not going to happen unless they offer these bags for mid-summer use. Makes one wonder why bean is trying again to offer a product that will not perform, oh well; stupid is stupid.

In addition I read that primaloft fiber is being blended with wool I think so to make winter socks that I believe without a doubt will allow you to have cold feet. These socks are from foxriver. This company has been sold a bill of goods thinking by blending a polyester fiber into whatever fibers they have been using is going to improve their product is just for the advertising dollars, not for an improvement to their product.

What is exhibited here is an old line company playing so to speak on their reputation since they are 100 years old. There are other companies that do the same thing based on their age as well as what they offer as representative long term quality and performance of product, such as The North Face, r.e.i, Columbia sportswear, etc. Personally I believe not a one of these companies has any employees who are materials or finished product knowledgeable. From season to season the only products you get to see from these companies as well as a myriad of other companies professing to be creators of outstanding garments for use in the out of doors are a rehashing of each previous years offerings. I do not believe these clothing items are acceptable for use the way they suggest.

A majority of these companies say they are listening to their customers and providing them with what they want. Really, they want to wear base layer garments that trap 100 percent of their sweat which causes them to get a chill, they want more footwear that traps the sweat from their feet to stay within the footwear they have on that has proven to keep their feet cold. I was watching the weather channel last week as one of the women was reporting from Boston and at some point she said her feet were cold in her “waterproof” boots. To me they looked like the bean boots which they could have been because she was wearing a bean parka. She was probably wearing those thick wool or possibly two pair of socks to guarantee cold feet.

LINDA OZAG has to say about bean 8 inch boots.

“I didn't know that these boots weren't insulated. My socks are wet after each wearing of the boots. I didn't know that I had to waterproof the boots. I don't wear them much because my feet get cold and wet”.

I took this off of a site that has reviews of the bean boots it was one of the first. A lot of the reviews refer to size. I suspect if I were to scrutinize all of the reviews I would read many more of the same comment about cold feet. I have also heard it from customers of mine who have owned these boots for many years, they too say they get cold feet when they wear them.

The following review also came to me today on my YouTube channel

“By the way....I did an overnight over a week ago in the low 20s here in Louisiana / border. Was sunny but windy and cool. We didn't even bother with hammocks. We took a tarp both ground pads and my two bag super light ftrss and an Ultima Thule. A friend of mine took his sngpk spec opps bag . We slept like two monkeys in a mango tree....snoring (me and my Filipino wife). My buddy was pissed, he was cold and miserable. So I taught him a hard lesson. He stayed another night longer than us because he was checking a hunting lease we already had scouted. . guarantee you one thing , he will certainly be buying either an Ultima Thule or Antarctic or ftrss like I have....... after he slept in that bag....he said the same thing I did....he’s getting to old to be trialing and experimenting with sleeping bags . Just can’t beat that Wiggys bag with Lamilite! low 20s doesn't seem very cold....but when you’re dealing with 75% humidity in that cold...it hurts your bones with previous injuries.......men over 55.....listen carefully.....if your body is worn and tired , your cold natured , and your tired and freezing your butt off....just get a Wiggy's and quit wasting your time and money ! Spend the money once.....and it will be the last time you have to do it again, until you buy another one of a different weight, for yourself or wife or kids. the things I keep in my Tahoe or truck year round.....Wiggys bags , e.d.c. bag , rain gear , , tarp, and a katana saw and a camp axe . This company makes many useful products. See for yourself”.

I am very happy to report that the age of my customers now start at grade school age. These youngsters have been getting Wiggy’s bags from their fathers and grandfathers. If you live in the state of Alaska and you have a son in the boy scouts he owns a Wiggy’s two bag system. Each year for the past 15 to 20 years it has become almost a ritual for each new group of boy scouts in Alaska to buy the Super Light FTRSS. Of course I sell about 3000 bags a year in the state of Alaska.

More to come about the companies exhibiting at OR as I read about their new improved products!
