KUDOS TO THE “AMERICAN” TEXTILE INDUSTRY
The pandemic we are now living with exploded on the scene 6 months ago.
It has damaged our economy (I know the world economy as well, but I prefer to only think about our economy for now) but since its inception the textile industry has responded in a manner that must be applauded!!!
I have been reading in online textile magazines about new fabrics, etc. and most recently in three textile magazines about what has been developed. The world goes through millions of face masks daily and that need has caused some textile machine manufacturers to develop machines that can produce then like “carter produces little liver pills” as the saying goes. Then there are fabric producers making woven and non-woven fabrics all to protect people especially those working in hospitals from the virus.
All of these materials are being made in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
The textile industry response to this unfortunate situation has been fantastic.
Could this have happened 50 years ago as quickly as it has today, doubtful.
OUR textile industry has stepped to the plate and has been hitting home runs like crazy. So many companies that have served the marine market converted their production to face masks and shields. That has kept their employees working. A number of companies serving the outdoor industry that have factories in the USA also have done the same. Then there are companies that are making hospital gowns, even in Grand Junction a small company has kept their work force here making gowns.
Ford and GM went to making respirators because auto sales have slowed.
The examples are endless so I say KUDOS TO THE “AMERICAN” TEXTILE INDUSTRY.
