NOT BEEN SORRY! TESTIMONIAL
Hi,
I’ve been meaning to drop you a line for some time, and just did not get around to it. In 2008, I had the privilege of visiting your Alaskan store in Anchorage. I was looking for a good sleeping bag, and the salesman mentioned he had a special order bag that was not been claimed/canceled. It turned out to be a superlight FTRSS system special made to size the price was right so I bought it and have not been sorry. It has kept warm on some very cold nights. I also bought the Antarctic parka and bib overalls, which are also very well made and warm. While home for a visit my daughter borrowed my parka because she was cold, and I haven’t seen it since, but it gets lots of comments from her friends.
Thank you for making good quality AMERICAN MADE products, I hope to visit your store in Grand Junction someday

The salesman at the store is Marc, the owner. He is travelling at this moment but he does get e mails so when he looks at his e mails he will have a smile on his face.
The following article I have reprinted from SGB about the fictitious waterproof and ‘BREATHABLE” non-sense garments you can waste your money on if you so desire.
When The Weather Rolls In … Get The Shell Out
Posted by SGB Media | Apr 9, 2018 | Apparel Magazine
The picture of the bird I had to leave as I really like it. I deleted the jackets.
It pays to have a rain jacket
when bad weather catches you off guard.
If you are a serious hiker or just out for a day on the trail, odds are you’ve got the right gear for just about anything and an app that tells you when to expect rough weather, but that’s not going to help with an upcoming storm you didn’t expect. If you get caught in the wet stuff, here are curated options to have on hand that will help you stay dry no matter where you are, and best of all, these jackets are self-packing.
Marmot PreCip
The PreCip Jacket is good to keep close for backcountry and urban traveling. Marmot’s NanoPro Waterproof/Breathable Fabric is 100-percent seam-taped. And the attached adjustable hood rolls into the collar. It includes PitZips, pack pockets, adjustable Velcro cuffs, and elastic drawcord hem, all scrunch down into its own pocket.
When it is scrunched down like a discus you can throw it away.
Hyperlite The Shell
This shell is ultralight and a beast for thru-hiking, backpacking, packrafting, climbing, day hiking or just about anything that comes it’s way in water. Made with DCF-WPB, this jacket is remarkably breathable and waterproof. The self-contained pocket lets you pack and stash.
Remarkable B/S. since it can also be packed in its own pocket it can also be discarded easily.
Outdoor Research Helium II Jacket
The Helium is 100-percent waterproof, breathable and weights just 6.4 ounces.
You can compress this jacket so it’s barely noticeable, and it is one piece of equipment you would never think to leave behind because you’ll almost forget it’s with you when clipped to your backpack or stashed in your bag. The only time you will know it’s there is when you need it for that sudden down-pour.
Another stash away jacket that will fly far.
Montane Minimus 777 Pull-On
When the rain comes, there’s always the Minimus 777 Pull-on . Here’s why. It offers three-layer waterproof protection and Pertex Shield+ laminate combines a seven-denier nylon face, a seven-micron breathable membrane and a seven-denier tricot backer. It weighs just 134g with micro-taped seams and a 12-to-13 seam stitch count for tight, clean and strong seams. It also has pre-elasticated hood, articulated arms and reflective detail, and it fits into a tiny pack for easy carry.
When it is put in that tiny pack it will also fly far. A good contest for these garments is to see which one will fly the farthest. You will need the exercise to warm up.
I find the review of these jackets interesting since the article shows a picture of what I suspect is a somewhat wet snow fall. What I am not seeing about each of these jackets is the insulation used in them because there is none. Regardless of the fact that not one portion of one ounce of moisture coming out of a human wearing any of these jackets which means it is staying in the jacket, means the wearer of the jacket is going to freeze in the situation shown in the picture.
Considering that these jackets as well as all others sold for the same purpose are quite slim fitting does not allow for much of any garment of an insulating nature to be worn under it. If someone did wear an insulating layer under it the moisture would still be retained in the garment allowing for the feeling of freezing occurring. So much for the supposed breathability aspect of these as well as ALL other garments made with these non-performing materials.
If you truly want to get the best protection from a cold rain the best garment you can buy is the DUCKSBACK Lamilite insulated zippered jacket.
All of the other jackets available are believe it or not a thorough waste of money and you will be sorry you bought one.
