CUTTING EDGE
HEATED CLOTHING
TECHNOLOGY

H.E.A.T. Inc. is leading the way in developing the highest-quality heated clothing. H.E.A.T. ONE-LAYER is the ultimate addition to your professional cold weather gear. Through scientific research, our body heating technology rewrites the book on cold weather survival.

Dominate the Cold, with the H.E.A.T. ONE-LAYER Heated Base Layer.

Heat inc is leading the way in developing potentially dangerous heated clothing with respect to the use they are advocating. These people like all of the rest of the clowns who have these grandiose ideas about what materials will function as insulation in cold regions haven’t a clue. What they all propose have demonstrated repeatedly that their products do not work. This heat company is so out of touch with reality it is mind boggling. Their last sentence proves that. How can one dominate cold? Cold is cold and all you can do is dress properly for cold and this heat product used as a first layer is sure to demonstrate that it is not going to work.

As for rewriting the book on wintry weather survival, who is that going to be? Do they have anyone on board who has had to survive in a wintry weather situation? NO!!! Is there added information pertaining to “our body heating technology” and if so, what is it? Blank!

All of this is a charade to try and sell a product as the snake oil salesperson did one hundred years ago. You can get the suit for $1999.00 now it was $2650.00.

“GOLD BEATS COLD”

I think so, if I have twenty pounds of gold, I can buy a ticket to the Bahamas and leave the wintry weather we have in Colorado. But that is not what the quote represents. Columbia Sportswear is promoting a polka dot lining this gold colored polka dot lining used in their parkas.

I carefully read the article about this product and it does not have any information about keeping one warm or warmer than you would be if you were wearing the same model garment made with a lining fabric that does not have the gold colored polka dots.

The only thing that is claimed, is that this gold colored polka dot material is superior to their original aluminum polka dot material they have been lining parkas with for some time.

That said it is apparent to me that they are using gibberish verbiage in an effort to explain something, what that is, is unknown.

What is known is that gold colored polka dots or any other colored polka dots applied to a lining material are incapable of “beating the cold.”

NEOPHYTES WHEN IT COMES TO INSULATION IN THE AIRFORCE

About 3 weeks ago I received a call from a captain in the Air Force located at Wright Patterson AFB. He was inquiring about the vacuum packed survival kits we supply to the Air Force that go into the ejection seats of the bombers as well as all of the fighters to now include the F-35’s.

I was delighted to give him as much information as he wanted. So, the conversation was as far as I was concerned very pleasant and I hoped productive for him.

He then brought up the subject of aerogel for insulation and I stopped him. I told him that aerogel was unacceptable product for use as insulation in the products I make. I further told him the aerogel people were charlatans, liars, and snake oil salesman! I ended the conversation letting him know if he did get involved with them, he needn’t contact me to do any vacuum packing, end of call.

The theoretical development of insulations that has occurred since the introduction of continuous filament fiber for insulation purposes has only

been the chopped staple polyester fiber such as primaloft with a brief entry of poly propylene called Thinsulate and now this aerogel product. In all cases these products are supposed to be better than continuous filament fiber, Climashield. They are not better, as good but are poor representations of what an insulating medium is supposed to be, do.

The people involved with representing these materials have no basic or otherwise foundation of knowledge in the field of insulations. As in the case of this new representation of a so called insulation “aerogel,” - it is a material quite small fibers I guess but much smaller in diameter and lighter in weight than air. The people who represent this product do not know that air sticks to any surface for a distance of one-eighth inch. If they did have this knowledge, they would know this fine fiber or whatever it is has no surface for the air to attach too.

These people like their predecessors at primaloft, Thinsulate and whoever else has or who has tried making an insulation do not know or understand that these fine denier fibers also do not have enough surface for the air to stick too or keep the air from moving. They also do not know by using a minimum of fiber the air within the fiber becomes subject to the cold that it is supposed to shield one from. As it becomes cold it, the air conducts heat away from the source, the source being the human trying to stay warm. In all cases there is simply not enough fiber or what ever aerogel is to occupy the space it is in, to reduce air movement. With a greater amount of fiber in any given space the air in that space can stick to more surfaces reducing or eliminating air movement. What these people do not understand is that “stagnant air” like stagnant water heats up by absorbing and holding the heat given to it.

However, in the case of Thinsulate their microfibers, melt blown polypropylene has zero resilience so the fiberfill product they sell to the boot industry has no air in the spaces between the fibers, which does not exist and for that reason that is why ALL buyers for 40 years I guess have experienced cold feet. And, so long as they use Thinsulate the boot makers will deliver boots in the future to people who will also experience cold feet.

Now lets discuss continuous filament fiberfill also known as Lamilite/Climashield or just Climashield. Viewing my u tube video about insulation is worthwhile after reading this article.

The continuous filament fiber is made into a lofty batting by layering the fibers on top of each other. There are so many filaments that are touching each other creating millions of tiny spaces between the fibers where air is present that it sticks too. The filaments used to make my product is 5.5 denier so the air has millions of fiber surfaces to stick too. Since the air is warm the fiber absorbs the warmth of the air. Since the air is stuck to the fibers it cannot go anyplace so it stays where it is and the fibers have no need to further absorb heat from you. There is no other material in the world that I know of that equates to continuous filament fiber used for insulation.

For years I am happy to say people have called or written me asking why their sleeping bag or parka has kept them warm in adverse conditions. Sometimes I have told it was magic, but obviously that is not true, you now know the truth.

To follow are two testimonials I have recently received.

The first one was a big surprise because it came from a customer from Olam days.

"Wiggy" might be interested to know that, after 45 years of faithful service through some really cold winters, I'm finally having to part with two of my all-time favorite winter outer garments - an Olam Outdoor Sports parka and an Olam vest. They are both still in great shape, the filament insulation has never shifted over the years, and the zippers still work well. But unfortunately, I have "grown" from the medium size I was in my 20's when I purchased them in the 1970's in Morgantown, WV, to my now X-Large size in my retirement years back home in Colorado. And my retired 60-year-old torso just won't fit into those medium size garments any longer. But I'll be dropping them both off at a Goodwill store soon so someone else who can fit into them will continue to get effective use out of them. Olam made some great products "back in the day."

Huge fan,

Dale

I told Dale to send the garments to me versus giving them to Goodwill and I would give him replacement Wiggy’s garments. These garments were made with the original Lamilite made with Polar Guard. You can change the name but you can’t change the product. I already know some customers who have bags for 35 years, so they may make it 45 years.

I'm way impressed with this bag. I bought it several years ago, after speaking to the owner. He guaranteed it to zero degrees F. So, on my yearly camp in winter saa, I was in a tent with no heat source. I put the bag to the test at only 10 degrees F with no socks on. I was amazed my feet did not get cold!!

Another year camping out. It was just above freezing. Sure enough, it rained a good bit, and the rain made it through the tent to the bottom of my sleeping bag. So once again I evaluate the concept that the water does not drench you. The bag amazed me by pushing the water towards the outside of the bag. So once again I evaluate the bag. It went to 20 degrees F and I decided to sleep with no heat and no socks. It kept my feet warm!!

I cannot recommend this bag enough.
