One of my customers upon reading the latest commentary wrote to me expressing his observation of what happens to wool garments he owns.
The get heavy when wet and body heat never is adequate to dry the wool. These two points are excellent observations and while I was aware of them I just did not think of them.
When a wool garment gets wet it increases in weight equal to the weight of the water absorbed. I am quite sure anyone who has worn wool long underwear can attest to this as well as the fact that the heat from their body is insufficient to dry the wool. Once the moisture is absorbed and retained in the wool all it does is absorb the heat that your body produces and the process of heat absorption never stops until the garment is taken off.
