The following two products come from an English publication “sports insight magazine.”
NEW ODOR REMOVER
Remodeez Outsmart Smell
Remodeez provides an odourless and non-toxic solution to remove - not mask- everyday odours. While most products rely on harsh chemicals and fragrance to cover up smells, remodeez neutralizes odour using activated charcoal derived from coconut husks to absorb odour at the source. remodeez is hypoallergenic, and toxin free. Use them in your shoes, gym bag, car or home. remodeez will outsmart smell wherever smell exists.
Please note that their literature shows “shoes” as the first item needing help in covering up odor. The other items listed are meaningless but shoes are not. I suspect the shoes shown probably have goretex or a knock off of goretex in them which as I found out with the Rocky shoes I had is a perfect reason why odor develops in them. Is it possible that Rocky is oblivious to the simple fact that their use of goretex causes the odor in their footwear, or was the problem just me? Since this remodeez company is showing a shoe maybe that is because they too have learned that shoes retain odor but they may not know the root cause is a goretex product. If they do then they do not want shoe companies to stop using goretex. That would be called a symbiotic relationship of sorts.

This company has been in business I think since 1987 in Belfast and they have their own version of a waterproof breathable material which works as well as goretex which is to say it doesn’t work at all. So as you can see there is no end at the moment for companies to accept that they do not have such a material, but the consumers just keep hoping otherwise why do they keep buying the stuff? You can answer the question.
I was looking at a picture of a hiking boot this morning on SGB on line magazine which was made from heavy grade nylon like a pack cloth or Cordora. I also noted that there were fancy strips going up the sides of the shoe from where the sole connects to the upper ending near the eyelets. Seeing this on almost all styles of athletic shoes gave me reason to wonder why they make them in this manner.
The answer is simple; these companies are using materials that were never meant to be used for footwear. They have very little if any support so they have to be constructed with additional supports such as side layers. Of course the shoe companies know these shoes will lose their support structure very quickly. When that happens you must replace the shoes.
What I wear are ALL TOP GRAIN LEATHER BOOTS. That is also what I sold. Leather structured footwear molds to your feet and it takes years for the leather to breakdown. Yes they are more expensive but when you consider the life of the leather footwear versus the synthetic footwear the cost per year is far less than the synthetics can ever be. If the footwear is also free of any material such as goretex you can expect not to have odorous feet when you take your shoes off.
One of my customers told me that gore is a marketing company and as far as he was concerned and they really didn’t give a damn whether their product worked or not. After some thought I am of the opinion he is probably right. That sentiment holds true for all of the other companies that have surfaced since gore came on the scene. Not one company can prove that they have a product that works so they look for marketing tools to supposedly prove their product does. What is the marketing tool they all use language. They dream up verbiage that may cause one to say yes I’ll will try this product versus that product, why because their decision is based upon the verbiage of some silver tongue devil. I think that gore has the market on silver tongue devils.
ALL PURPOSE LIGHT WEIGHT JACKET
I will have it on the web site shortly. The price is $120.00 delivered via ground service to your house. This garment will not be available for shipping until May 2019. When it shows up on the web site for ordering please note that all orders placed before May 1, 2019 will be at a discounted price of $100.00. After May 1, 2019 the price will change to $120.00.
As for style it will be the same as the Ducksback zippered jacket.
As I said it will be available only in black.
Sizes will start at small to 3 XL.
The shell fabric is a light weight Supplex.
The lining fabric is nylon taffeta.
The insulation is the 3 ounce Lamilite quilted.
The reason for the quilting is to stabilize the light weight Lamilite.
There will be a two way separating YKK molded tooth zipper.
Based upon use of this level of insulation is very efficient from 32 degrees and higher. I have been wearing my Ducksback zippered jack most of the winter in GJ but our winters in general are not sever. Also based upon feedback from customers who have used the Supplex shell jackets such as the sweater or Barron Grounds parka in rain situations have reported staying dry even though the Supplex got wet leads me to believe that having the light weight Lamilite in the garment keeps the rain water out of the garment. I also know that hiking through any mountainous region when the ambient air temperature is 60/70 degrees does drop quickly when it rains and therefore having the layer of insulation if the drop in temperature goes into the 40’s is very necessary. I can tell you for fact that sailing in Long Island Sound during the summer when the temperature is 80 to 90 degrees dropped to 60 when a squall came up. So my foul weather jacket was never enough when rain was pelting me. I always had to have a vest to wear under the foul weather jacket.
The other aspect of this garment is the fact that it will allow perspiration to migrate out of the garment. When I look at ALL of the light weight garment with the bogus wp/b labels I know that ALL who wear these garments when caught in rain get cold. The rain presses the garment against the body and since the rain water is cold the nylon that the water hits reacts quickly to that temperature and it gets cold so you get cold. Then of course the fact that their own perspiration has been trapped in the garment against their skin surface also contributes to their getting cold. The thickness of the Lamilite prevents that from happening. Once again it is important to understand the necessity of getting rid of body produced moisture. The Lamilite prevents the outside water from rain getting into the garment and the Lamilite keeps you warm so your body heat can cause any perspiration to change from liquid to vapor so it can flow out of the garment.
All of the information that I publish which happens to be factual if read by those in the industry should take heart in knowing that they have been exposed to knowledge at no charge. What they do with it is their business, however, until and unless one of them steps up to the plate and says I will no longer sell a product that does not work nor has it any chance of working anymore! There will not be any changes in the industry, so the consumer can count of seeing “new and improved non-functioning wp/b products in the future.
As I was about to publish this article I saw on the web site the following testimonial.
Chukka plus Wiggy's socks
I've worn these boots for two winters now
using only the Wiggy's socks. My feet are kept warm and dry. When taking the sock
off you can actually feel the weight difference with all the moisture they have
absorbed.
I put the Wiggy boot dyers inside the boots after use and they are good to
go....after years of wet, cold feet, and slathering my old leather boots with
greasy weatherproofing, I'm very pleased with these boots.....
