The following article I read in the outdoor industry on line publication SNEWS.
I wrote about the gore surround in shoes several months ago. It is when the goretex is surrounding your foot I believe. The following article is a contradiction about performance.
“I’ve tried other Gore Surround shoes in my day, but none have worked as well as these. LOWA was an early adopter of Surround, and they’ve clearly worked out all the kinks. There are seven channels that run clear through the Aero’s midsole, from side to side. A gridded spacer layer sandwiched inside the midsole creates an air pump, so that which each step, the weight of your foot pushes sweat vapor down through the bottom of the shoe and out the side channels. All that combined with a breathable mesh upper add up to a shoe that kept me feet cool and dry even in the most challenging conditions”.
[I do not believe for one moment that the vapor coming out of the bottom of one’s foot can or does move sideways. I further do not believe for one second that the person wearing these shoes had dry feet.]
“In fact, these shoes are so good at keeping feet cool and dry that you’ll probably not want to wear them in the cold weather. Back home in snowy Boston, my toes were perpetually cold in the Aerox’s. But now that spring is springing, I’m reaching for them again—for hiking, for running (both street and trail), for walking my dog, and for travel, because of their easy, slip-on design”.
[I do believe that the person wearing these shoes did have cold feet as well as the perpetually cold toes. Why because ALL of the moisture that came out of the pores in their feet was condensed in their socks and as soon as it was cold so were their feet and toes!
Is there no end to the contradictions that exist about goretex? It supposedly works in this weather condition but not another. It does not work in any weather condition, never has does not now, and never will. But the marketing machine will never acknowledge the flaws of the product, so people who are uninformed will continue to waste money on product that contains it!!!]
Jerry,
I have attached a photo that shows the gear you make is being put to the test constantly.
[I was not able to attach the photo but Brian was sleeping in the snow.]
We had to snowshoe in and slept for 3 nights. Everyone else brought tents and had massive packs; I had my kit smashed in stuff sacks. The new guy laughed because I was going to freeze in my "bear burrito" as they like to call it. Since they started good-natured hassling early, I ensured I led the snowshoeing and dogged them for being too slow, and once we made it to our camp area they were all sweaty which made them get chilled. When night fell they slid quietly into their tents and fell asleep. Morning time came I was up and chipper having an awesome sleep (as usual). They mumbled and grumbled about their sleep being chilly. Last day we packed up and after three nights of chilly nights of sleep, everyone was worn out. So we packed up and the last thing I said before barreling off across the snow was "hard men, go hard", and off I went with a bunch of curse words being shot in my direction. HAHAHA
Gear: Ducksback insulated bivy, Super Light 0 degree bag, luxurious pad, Wiggy's boot liners, and Wiggy's pillow, and fishnet underwear. I have the Alaska Range parka with liners L3 & L6 along with Boots. I feel like I am a walking Wiggy's store. HAHAHA When the discussion arises about the differences in your gear associated with individual weight compared to other gear items which weigh less; I'm always asked if it is really worth it. I explain that I usually drop the tent which makes the most difference. Couple that with the peace of mind and toasty sleep makes it totally worth it.
Do I believe in Wiggy's gear? YES. I have complete and utter confidence in my Wiggy's gear. Thank you, Jerry, for making an outstanding product and also providing outstanding support.
Thank you
Brian
Maybe the guys with him will decide to replace their “chill” bags with Wiggy’s bags.
Reprint with a name.
Replacing my wool socks
These socks do indeed keep my feet warmer than wool. They dry quickly, if soaked, and my feet don't seem to sweat. I know that they do, I just don't feel it because it passes through so quickly.

THANK YOU FOR COMING FORWARD.
INSULATED CAGOULE
I was mistaken about the cost of manufacturing this product. I initially said it would retail for about $200.00 but I was wrong. The actual retail price IS $130.00.
Shortly a picture will be on the web site.
