FIRST RESPONSE TO SUNDAYS ARTICLE
Wiggy,
Maybe Salomon has read your blogs? They have a military boot, the Quest 4D GTX with goretex. Hey, those military contracts are worth a lot of money. But they also make the Quest 4D *without* goretex!
I've previously mentioned to you that I now hike with Salomon boots. They fit my feet very well. And without the goretex my feet say much drier. I just hiked for many days in the Wind River mountains, with zero blisters or foot problems.
sincerely,
Bob from Ann Arbor
My response to Bob was I am not impressed. When Salomon ends their use of goretex and states the reason, “it does not work” that will get my attention.
Bob should send his experience to Salomon since it shows how much better off he has been since buying their boot without the goretex in it.
Periodically I do see solicitations for this boot so I do not believe that Salomon will stop making them without the goretex film.
GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATIONS
On November 18 of 2018 I reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission all the same information I sent to the GSA about the snugpak sleeping bags not being able to perform as advertised.
I have yet to receive any correspondence from them updating the progress of the case. Unfortunatly for people like me who make these complaints there is no one to call as I found out. The answering machine directs you to the email method. I consider that the standard operating procedure of the government.
Between the GSA and the CPSC investigations I fully expect nothing will come of them with the end result will be that we pay for “no sleep sleeping bags” for our soldiers and how ever many consumers buy these same “no sleep sleeping bags” will discover why I call them what I do and the will have wasted their money because our government agencies that are supposed to work for us haven’t.
