Ambercycle will enable recyclable sleeping bags
11/07/2023
US brand Nemo has signed a recycling partnership with Ambercycle, a Los Angeles-based innovator in circular textiles.
NEMO IS GOING TO RECYCLE THE SLEEPING BAG’S THEY SELL , INCREDIBLE!!!
Endless Promise is a collection of Nemo products
designed to be 100% recyclable, starting with the Forte Endless Promise
synthetic sleeping bag.
The endless promise is that they promise the
sleeping bags will not perform so you can send them back to be converted into
something else. years ago, the words were “planned obsolescence”. Now we have a
company being more forth coming and telling you their sleeping bags are “designed
to be 100% recyclable”.
Next year, the brand will extend the collection
to include down sleeping bags and backpacks and is working with its supply chain
to divert textile production waste to Ambercycle.
Nemo is not stopping with synthetic sleeping
bags but down bags as well. Knowing this must give one confidence NOT to
purchase any of their products. As you have read their working on their backpack
line as well.
Theresa McKenney, director of sustainability at
Nemo, said: “Over 87% of Nemo’s environmental impacts happen before our
products leave the factory; emissions are embedded in our gear. It’s on us as
brands to keep these products out in the world and out of the landfill as long
as possible.
Teresa if you are in charge of sustainability why
do you have a program starting up to recycle the products you make? If you make
sustainable products they should last for years and you shouldn’t be promising that
your products can be sent back for recycling.
“We’ve built repair and resale networks, but
recyclability has been elusive. Through meticulous trials and collaborative
analysis with Ambercycle, we now have a true circularity solution for key
products in our line.”
Recyclability is the way to go when the repair and resale network fails. So, as they say, “we now have a true circularity solution for [key] products in our line”.
This sounds to me like they are at a lose to produce good quality products that will have longevity on their side.
