Celebrate Oktoberfest With Beer-Resistant Adidas Sneakers

This Saturday is the first day of Oktoberfest in Germany, and the more fashion-conscious revelers will be hoisting their “Maß” while wearing beer-and-puke-resistant kicks by Adidas.

The company introduced a limited-edition version of Oktoberfest sneakers to help you navigate the world’s largest “Volkfest” in comfort and style. The Adidas München Oktoberfest joins the popular München sneaker line and features premium leather materials and a special DPBR – Durable Puke and Beer Repellent – coating.

The sneakers’ embroidery matches traditional lederhosen, while the inner checkered lining evokes a traditional beerhall tablecloth. Emblazoned in gold on the side is the word “Prost” – German for “cheers.” Still not sold? The footwear also comes with a matching one-liter custom beer mug.

Is Adidas having a problem selling their footwear that they have to cater to drunks?Maybe so.

FOOTWEAR DEVELOPMENT IN PORTLAND OREGON

In the same publication there was an article about the Under Armour (UA) Company opening a research and development facility in Portland of all places. Why, in my opinion since its primary focus is on footwear for athletes a better place doesn’t exist. Nike and Adidas are there and I think there are a couple of other footwear companies located there too. So UA can maybe steal some of the important people who work at these other companies, maybe! They also noted that they will develop outerwear garments; so maybe they will look at Columbia Sportswear for clothing people.

As we know UA had an unfortunate experience with the military when it was seen that their synthetic underwear garments melted into the skin of man soldiers who were hit by IED’s in Iraq. It was an unforeseen but things happen. They got through that period and I think they should change their name to “I WILL FOLLOW, INC,” because what they have done is follow all of the other companies that preceded them in the outdoor products business from T-shirts to outerwear to footwear. I do not believe they have any original thoughts. Maybe UA should make a Irish whiskey sneaker ot as vodka sneaker!

I am very well aware of the fact that they have been very successful financially but it is with products that other companies have made before them. As I see it they are now going whole hog into the realm of athletic footwear and just like all of the other companies that have been there they will be coming out with as the other companies do a new and IMPROVED line of athletic footwear every season.

As I write this I think of all of the companies that function on the same basis of always coming out with a new and improved product that is a copy of someone’s product made by in China or Vietnam or who knows where in Asia. What UA does not know is that what they are copying is a copy of some other company’s product. What goes around comes around.
