A REASON TO DRIVE TO GRAND JUNCTION
I drove to Grand Junction, CO (a 4 hour drive) just to take
advantage of the Wiggy's sleeping bag sale. I tested out my new bag on a Scout
trip this past weekend and just loved how comfortable I was.
I usually start out cold, then warm up and get too hot, opening and closing my
sleeping bag all night to get comfortable. I usually end up cold after all of
this. In my new Wiggy's bag I stayed at the perfect temperature all night and
had a great night's sleep. Wow! I didn't think there would be such a difference!
I really like how the compression sack brings the bag down to the right size
for my future canoe trips as size is a consideration in packing my dry bag. I
am very glad I picked up a 2nd bag to share with my husband who is always cold.
:-)
The quality is excellent and I enjoyed chatting with the owner who is very
knowledgeable. I will be back for more equipment and clothing to build up my
camping equipment.

Jose called about two weeks ago and told me she would be by. We had the 2 bags out front when she arrived. She told me she needed to clear her head from work so the drive did just that. Because she made the trip, I gave her as much time as needed to answer any questions that she had.
One more time someone has graciously shared their experience with us in a Wiggy bag.
A LITTLE SLEEPING BAG HISTORY WITH THE MILITARY
In 1992 I was contacted by a major in the U.S. Marine Corps. He told me he was a climber and had several Wiggy bags. his job at the time was running the Marine Corps Material Command office. he was looking for a desert bag because we had just invaded Irac. The up sot of our conversation was what we have on our website a desert bag. he ordered 200 site unseen. It was a rush job. When they were finished, they were shipped to VA. By the time they arrived the fighting had stopped, so he sent them to 29 Palms Marine base in CA. He called and told me they were issued to 200 Marines on an exercise in the desert. The temperatures during the 30 day training mission was as low as 30 degrees many nights. All were happy. I then included the desert bag on the web site only rating it for 40 degrees.
Shortly there after his replacement talked with me about bags and unbeknownst to me he went to the outdoor retailer show and went to every company showing sleeping bags [the year was 1993] that were made in the USA. he asked for a two bag system to cover summertime to -20 F. A couple of months later he called and told what he did and was not having any success. I told him I would talk with Kok and see what we could do. This took place on a Monday. By Friday of that week, we had a sample made. I called him and told him what we had and if he wanted any the price. He told me someone in purchasing would call with a credit card and he wanted 12.
The system we made that week we have been making ever since. The only difference is that we make different temperature rated systems but they all work exactly the same.
That was the last time I ever received an order from the marines.
The only good things that have occurred since that episode is that the military started making a two bag system, their own bastardization of mine and they moved from chopped staple fiber to continuous filament fiber. Natick had very poor success with these bag systems from the late 1990’s until the early 2000’s. Then things went quiet until the year 2015 or there about and they came out with new specifications or so they said. At this time two companies are making the spec bag system. I have personally not seen one system, but I have been informed by some who were issued the system it is not arctic useable.
You are now up to date with our military sleeping bag of the no sleep sleeping bag variety.
