SHARING INFORMATION ABOUT USE OF WIGGY’S PRODUCTS
Hello Mr. Wigutow,
I have been a customer of yours since 2013. Prior to that, I have used several different products as an Eagle Scout and a Flight Paramedic and none of them match the quality or performance of your products. To start, I have your all-purpose summer bag which travels with me weekly for work and especially on my FEMA deployments the hurricane season. Your FTRSS Overbag I utilize on my bed in my mountain home for that extra warmth during the winter months. I also have your Super Light Hunter and Ultra-Light bags for my different camping adventures.
After moving to the mountains of Tennessee 4 years ago, I experienced some rough winters requiring me to commute off the mountain on my ATV due to snow/ice. I soon decided to invest in some Wiggys clothing. I first purchased the Urban Antarctic Parka(Ducks Back) and Lamilite Socks. I have nothing but great things to say about these two items. The parka is super warm and the Ducks Back shell works as advertised. The parka is my go-to foul weather garment. The socks are amazing and keeps my feet plenty warm.
This past Fall I decided I would invest in your Ducks Back Sweater for hunting season. As you know the Appalachian Mountains are full of thick Laurels bushes and rough terrain. Tracking dogs for bear, can be pretty brutal on your body and especially your clothes. The Ducks Back never failed. Not only did it succeed in its ability to provide warmth and quickly dry, but It also resisted without hesitation to some gnarly snags. Furthermore, upon reading your many articles and with some additional research, this year I decided to experiment with some fishnet long underwear and the Sweater. I took them both with me to Kansas in late Jan 21’ for my annual bird hunt. The temps ranged from 5-20F degrees and with blizzard conditions. I wore you’re the fishnet top, a long sleeve t-shirt and the Lamilite Sweater. During the hunt, not only were we navigating thru the brush, but stomping thru the snow as well. In regard to the combination of clothing, all I can say is “WOW”. I was completely warm. Actually, when exertion was its highest, I had to open the Sweater some to regulate my temp. And to add to my amazement, I was dry and stayed dry. I have never experienced that before. So, Mr. Wigutow, you were right, and I extend to you a very grateful thank you.
With all that said, I will continue to promote and turn people on to your products as well as continue to be a loyal customer myself. I already have a Wishlist for next winter and if u are willing someday, maybe a custom item or two.
Thanks again and keep up the good work,
Matt Edwards
One of the most wonderful aspects of having a blog is being able to reprint so many of the letters I receive from people who document their experiences using the Wiggy’s products they have invested in. I prefer to say invested in versus purchased because I believe owning any Wiggy product is an investment since they last so long.
The high-light of Matt’s letter to me is his comment and I quote; “I had to open the sweater some to regulate my temp.” all he did was to open the zipper that allowed his excess heat and moisture out. There is nothing fancy about the garment just a zipper to move down to vent and up to trap more heat as is necessary. The companies that make jackets will tell you other ways that you can control your heat, it is all b/s. Actually, I suspect you must keep the jacket zipped up constantly because you are always cold.
Of course, the use of the fishnet underwear certainly helps to get the moisture to the surface so when the jacket was unzipped the moisture vacated immediately.
While I have published these facts in the past it is always wonderful for my customers to write in support of what I have said.
Recently hunters who go through the bush have asked about the durability of the DUCKSBACK fabric so now I/we know it is very durable. Since I no longer go through the brush I can not answer legitimately, but Matt does.
Matt once again I thank you for your sharing your experiences with us.
