The following article is reprinted from the Sports Textile online publication I receive daily.
November’s Performance Days to focus on thermal technologies
The forthcoming Performance Days event in Munich (November 8-9) will have the development of fibres, fabrics and smart technologies for keeping the wearer’s body warm as its central focus.
The use of the word “smart” should be removed from the discussion since those involved haven’t a clue about the subject of keeping people warm, smart they are not!
Its focus topic will be: ‘Thermal Technologies: from fibre to smart textiles’.
They make it sound like keeping warm depends upon some
new technology.
“No other topic is of more concern to active athletes than the desire for
temperature comfort,” the organisers have said. It describes appropriate
insulation for both cold and warmth without overheating as “elementary needs”
and says that achieving this requires a lot of expert knowledge.
These people are not playing with a full deck. The organizers
of this nonsensical gathering have no knowledge of insulation to begin with, so
describing appropriate insulation for both cold and warmth makes no sense. I question
what is meant by “without overheating as [elementary needs]”. “Achieving this requires
a lot of expert knowledge”, none of which they in total have.
As well as the range of fibres and fabrics for winter 2019/2020 on display
visitors will be able to attend a series of workshops related to the event’s
focus topic.
Whatever the visitors see will be a series of
nonsensical displays and what they hear will be stupid explanations for what is
shown.
There will also be information about all the latest developments in smart
textiles related to heat generation and body temperature control.
Smart textiles must be textiles that have attended some form of school. These people do not understand that textiles are inanimate objects so they cannot acquire any knowledge good, bad or indifferent. The human body acts in an involuntary way to control its heat. Textiles have no ability to effect that involuntary action.
Regardless of your activity your body always functions exactly the same way. As an example; you are playing basketball. After a few minutes into the game you begin to perspire. The cause of the perspiration is triggered by your internal organs heating up and they start sending the heat via two mechanisms through you blood to one the skin surface and two through the pores as a vapour and once that vapour condenses on your skin as a liquid [known as sweat] it starts the cooling process.
I do not care what you are doing, if you are exerting yourself this involuntary process always remains the same. How do these “experts” think, believe they have a method to “control body temperature”?It is now obvious why I think believe they are plainly and simply stupid!
Now do you believe me when I say the outdoor industry is permeated by people who have no knowledge of what they are doing for the most part! These people who create nothing work diligently to justify their very existence. To the unenlightened they seem knowledgeable even though they have no knowledge of the subject, but that lack of knowledge doesn’t stop them, they just run their mouths like diarrhea. This is what you get when you have a collective mind, nothing of any value!
However, some of the companies that sell insulated products will believe what they are being told and try to implement this knowledge [if you want to call this b/s that] into a new “super-duper” garment.
All of these people are a joke and a very bad one at that!!!
