sunwalkers and lamilite socks

SUNWALKERS AND LAMILITE SOCKS

Good Morning,

Outside temperature this AM was -28C (-18.4F), I thought I would test my Sorel Pack Boots today by taking the felt liners out and putting in the original SunWalker, not the SunWalker 2 into my pack boots. I must admit I did have a pair of light ankle height cotton socks on, before putting the SunWalkers on, and then slipped everything into my Pack Boots. First I found it very loose and sloppy, because the SunWalkers are less dense then the felts…take up less room, tightened up the laces and they stayed on my feet OK. After about 15 minutes of standing around outside my feet were starting to get quite cold. I went in the house, took out the SunWalkers and ankle height cotton socks, put the felts back in and put on my 13” Lamilite Socks with no cotton socks (bare foot), put the boots back on and went outside again. I found my feet to be toasty warm immediately and lasted the same the entire time I remained outside. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada, and it doesn’t get much colder then here. Any advice on how to improve on this situation?

Thanks,

R.Dashineau

I do not know what further advice I can give him based upon what he experienced when he changed from cotton socks to Lamilite socks. I did suggest that he try the Lamilite socks with the shorter Sunwalkers and I expect the result will be the same as with the high Sunwalkers.

Did you know that Sorel brand of pack boots are made in China, no surprise and is owned by Columbia Sportswear Company. Years ago I visited with Columbia in Portland showing them the Sunwalkers and wanting to sell them the Lamilite so they could make their own in China. I was told matter of factly that they buy no materials that have to be shipped to China. End of meeting!

They like all the rest of the footwear marketing companies have zero interest in improving the products they make, are you surprised? Probably not!

This year the information about products shown at the outdoor retailer trade show is very sparse so I am at a loose to publish what I believe is unadulterated nonsense. Maybe as the days go by next week there will be stories in some of the other publications that serve the outdoor industry market. Of course I cannot imagine what they would be showing that is new other than colors.

For those of you who will watching the super bowl I hope your team wins. Back in the 1980’s the Celtics played the Lakers every year prior to the bowl and I miss the rivalry. Those who watched these games saw two of the best to play the game Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
