TEMPERATURE RATINGS
The Temperature Rating Is Conservative
Just took this bag out on a camping trip during a freeze advisory where the temperature dropped to 27° F (cold for North Carolina in April). I was hot in this bag wearing Wiggy's Insulated Head Cover and a very light athletic shirt and pair of pants. Based on this trip I'm sure the bag would be comfortable far below the 20° F rating. Can't wait to test it out in winter while wearing a true base layer.

Alex thank you for your comment about the temperature rating of the sleeping bag you purchased.
When I first made the sleeping bags that became the Ultra- Light [plus 20 degrees], Super Light [zero degrees] and Ultima Thule [minus 20 degrees] I knew that I was under rating them so long as the user used them as I presented. Using them in a tent and on a ground pad. If one used them under the stars the temperature ratings were basically voided.
Yes, they may work okay under the stars for some but not for most. You see when the air moves across the bag it takes the heat with it. In a tent there is no air movement. All the other companies that sell “no sleep sleeping bags” have never bothered to guide the potential buyer in this manner.
Over the years of making the sleeping bags as we do at Wiggy’s we have learned from our customers that the temperature ratings are conservative. That said I could have done one of two things, reduced the amount of Lamilite used in each bag or just lowered the temperature rating of each model. That is something I never thought of doing. I like being told that the Wiggy bags work below the advertised ratings.
GORE?
During the past two weeks I have seen the article the history of gore published twice now in the outdoor sporting publications. The published this article after bobby gore died.
Why now? I think because the pandemic has seriously hurt sales of their product. gore has also started publishing the many ways their film I guess is used in some form of 3 dimensional way of viewing them on their web site.
With all this hoopla taking place nothing has changed; goretex still does not function as a material composite that has the ability to keep rainwater always out of the goretex fabric garment that you can buy [if it did there would not be a need to put a water repellent; DWR; on the fabric], nor does it allow sweat to move through the fabric while in a vapor state. In other words, IT DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED.
THE outdoor industry has a multimillion dollar investment of the so called water-proof breathable concept of material so they have to convince themselves that such a composite of materials does exist. The powers to be in the industry refuse to accept that it never has existed does not exist now nor will it exist tomorrow and that bobby gore went to his grave knowing this.
Maybe todays reprint of the story will be the last.
