As you
can see from the above comment the state of how companies make things
today. The fact that the writer put his comment on my u-tube channel is
terrific. I am not
so sure he is correct in thing if you wear all of your clothing in that
erroneously rated 20 degree bag will actually keep you warm when the
temperature is 20 degrees. In reality all of your clothing will have
received and retained all of the perspiration. When atmosphere that is a
very low level of heat (cold) starts to conduct into the bag which is poorly
insulated it will conduct into your clothing and cause the moisture to
conduct your body heat which will leave you with a chill. He is
correct about the lunacy of the outdoor industry going lighter and lighter.
It is my opinion seeing what they are doing is the reality that all of the
products are unfit for use in the manner they claim. Making disingenuous statements
has become common place in the outdoor industry. Making products that have
a life expectancy if you are lucky for one season is also common place. If there
is no durability for but one season I call that planned obsolescence because
you will have the need to replace almost every item you by unless of course
it’s a Wiggy product. All of
these companies are following their leader who is as far as I am concerned
the most unscrupulous of them all “gore”. They have made an art of avoiding
the truth and if they can do it so can the north face, Columbia,
underarmour and most all of the rest of the companies that supply the
retailers. By the way there are some retailers who have product made in
asia under their own label that qualify to be categorized as disingenuous such
as rei, llbean and the coop in Canada. At some
point you may be able to find many of these clothing products in walmart,
sams or Costco at excellent prices that are below manufacturers cost. What a
fine predicament they are in, Ollie. I suppose these same companies will once again state next season "new and improved" as they always do and of course they have sacrificed quality and performance for fashion. |
