THE SURVIVAL KIT
Recently I wrote about the survival kit provided to the Air Force and its ability to work has been written about in two military publications as well as the December issue of the Popular Mechanics publication. I have been monitoring the number of views the video has been seen and so far as of today it has over 1200 views. The most viewed video I have made so far in such a short period of time.
I am making a change to the pants that is very much an improvement. Instead of the hook and loop on the outer side seams they will be located on the in seams and there will be draw cord at the base of each leg so the pant will convert to a half bag or what used to be called an elephant’s foot. The draw cord at the base will close the foot end.
In addition, the entire survival kit and maybe other products will be available in snow camouflage. The price for any of the individual survival kit items will not change from what is on the web site.
BOOTS
A number of readers have written to me for the past week giving me leads to USA companies who produce their products in the USA, Mexico, and Peru. I am very appreciative of all the names given to me. I have written to these companies telling them I do not want to have them contract make boots for me but rather to buy the Lamilite and use it for their lining for cold weather boots.
All of these companies make leather boots and none of them as far as I could find out use goretex or thinsulate.
In my correspondence to them I have said regardless if they follow up with me about using the Lamilite I will still tell people to look into buying their product because it is leather and combined with the Lamilite socks their customers as well as mine will have warmer feet.
I also noted that redwing manufactures in the USA several leather boots models that do not contain goretex and or thinsulate. Imagine if people stop buying all of their goretex thinsulate boots and just buy the leather boots that they make that do not use that garbage.
I can only dream!
VENTILATION
I decided to hang a wind chime earlier and since I was in my house wearing my farmer johns without a shirt, I went outside in the sunshine as I was dressed.
The temperature was somewhere between 25 and 30 degrees. My neighbor was outside working on the fence between the properties and he said, “Jerry it’s cold out, I am wearing 4 layers and I am still cold”. I told him the layers were probably knitted garments and his moisture was being trapped in them causing the constant chill.
He has known about Wiggy’s for years before I moved next to him and has never been in my store, he worked at one time ¼ mile from the factory. He like many who live on the western slope of Colorado have heard of Wiggy’s but have never bothered to come in.
Earlier this week a couple living in Fairbanks, Alaska to pick up a pair of booties. He is stationed with the Northern Warfare Train Base. He grew up in Grand Junction and found out about Wiggy’s when he was given one of my Antarctic bags when he went into the field and saw the label that states made in Grand Junction, Colorado. This is not the first time I have heard comments like this; 32 tears and counting is all I can say.
2019 was a very good year for Wiggy’s and 2020 is starting out as good or better.
Thank you one and all!!!
