The following information about “insulation” has been taken from TEXTILE WORLD online publication.
Exploring recent innovations in insulating fibers.
Exploring I do not think so!!!
TW Special Report
In the field of fibers for insulation, warmth, sustainability and performance are key. Italy-based Thermore S.p.A., PrimaLoft Inc., Albany, N.Y., and 3M, St. Paul, Minn., are just some of the companies pursuing fiber insulation solutions. Recently, these companies have unveiled fresh products for fiber insulation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in textile fibers.
All of the companies named sell chopped staple fiberfill or in the case of 3-M they also sell polypropylene battings. They claim that their products are insulation which in my opinion they are not. The unknown writer of the article states “warmth” which suggests that warmth is being sold. Sustainability I believe is referencing their products. If their products were sustainable, why are they always offering a new one almost every year? Because they are not sustainable which is to say they deteriorate in the garments they are used in. As for “performance”, these products historically, since they were presented to manufacturers in the 1970’s by 3-M and then in the 1980’s
by Albany International the original producer of primaloft, now a spinoff. As for thermore they are to the best of my knowledge a garnetter, one who processes fiber into battings. Why the company is mentioned in the article only shows that the author has no knowledge of insulation.
Note the author notes that these companies have “unveiled fresh products” for fiber insulation. Why? because as I said the old stuff is not working. “Pushing the boundaries of what is possible” is plain old stupidity.
The rest of the article overall 4 pages is interviews with somebody from each company who explains how “good” their product is. It was difficult to read because all that was said I heard before.
Of course, the author never went to Climashield to really learn about insulation.
All of the companies mentioned sell their products to companies who produce their products in Asian factories who would never order Climashield which they would have to ship to Asia.
Made in America customers are few and far between so they stay in Asia.
I do not know if many consumers read the hangtags, what ever they say is meaningless because the product is the same with a new name and will not work the same.
The garment brands do not care because they are receiving most likely a kickback for using the stuff. This process has been going on for all the years I have been in the business so why would it change, it won’t.
I receive nothing but a wonderful product a good service from Climashield.
