VALIDATION: “Validation” in the broad sense includes any process of relating mental contents to the facts of reality. Direct perception, the method of validating axioms, is one such process. “Proof” designates another type of validation. Proof is the process of deriving a conclusion logically from antecedent knowledge.
Leonard Peikoff, “The Philosophy of Objectivism”
The following is for all who still believe that a composite made up of two or more fabrics that are either woven or knitted that are laminated or coated in some manner to render the composite to have two characteristics. One being water-proof and the other being as are commonly used in the outdoor industry breathable. They who market such material can never accept using what would be the proper terminology which is “vapor permeable”. The product described has shown that it is not water-proof or vapor permeable.
I have since 1977 when I first encountered Bobby Gore at the precursor to the Outdoor Retailer trade show told him in no uncertain terms that what he was offering to me and all other manufacturers that existed in the U.S.A. at the time did not work as described, nor would it ever work in the future. The same holds true for every other company’s product said to do the same thing. Well they do, they don’t work as Gore-Tex doesn’t work.
Unfortunately Gore sold the military and the result was large orders which gave them the funds to advertise to the general public who wanted such a product. Their success was remarkable so others started to offer the same basic product and many were also successful. The only people who were not successful with these products were the people who bought the garments. To my amazement some to this day actually believe that these products work as advertised. Some have even told me that one works better than the others. Maybe when you spend $500.00 for a product you are ashamed to admit you made a mistake. The reality is these materials don’t work now or will ever.
They the producers of such products cannot validate with proof their abilities to do as advertised.
The same holds true for all of the chopped staple fiberfill insulation or down processors; they too cannot validate with proof their products abilities to function as advertised.
HERE IS VALIDATION
Dear Sir,
Despite my initial skepticism about the fishnet top underwear, I have now used it many times and I LOVE it! I'm finally warm and dry as you said before.
I'm going to place an order for two more shortly.
I'm a person who is always cold so this means a lot to me.
Best greetings
Henrik

Henrik’s letter to me is one more validation of a product I manufacture (maybe he does not know that the fishnets were developed in Norway in 1933). Over the years I have received numerous letters expressing the same sentiments that the fishnets work as advertised.
In addition to the fishnets I am very proud of the fact that virtually every product that I manufacture is validated by the many thousands of Wiggy’s customers, who is evidenced by the continued receipt of letters stating as much.
The problem that consumers have stems from the fact that companies have come into existence that offer a service to manufacturers claiming that they will verify what the companies are offering for sale to the consumer. This presupposes that the company offering this service actually knows what it takes to make the product in the first place. If that were the case why aren’t they making the product if they know so much about it? The answer is simple; they do not know what it takes to make the product in the first place. They just want power.
I do not know who started the ISO 9000 certification but hundreds of companies are registered with it and they pay for some company to “validate” their product. This is collectivism; “The political philosophy of collectivism is based on a view of man as a congenital incompetent, a helpless, mindless creature who must be fooled and ruled by a special elite with some unspecified claim to super wisdom and a lust for power”. AYN RAND; WHO WILL PROTECT US FROM OUR PROTECTORS; TON 1962.
The outdoor industry is probably not alone having people employed who function on the basis of in many cases collective minds. That is a contradiction because there cannot be such a thing. But when so many cower to these companies that claim they have the knowledge to validate the product you make I am astounded.
Recently I enquired with a sales person representing my sleeping bags to a foreign military who is taking for ever to test them. Why because I could not present them with a third party report on my bags. First of all I am supposed to know what I am doing, and secondly I have sold thousands of my bags to our military. That is not good enough.
My name goes on all of the products I make so I am completely responsible for the products ability to do as I claim. I am contacted often by people who want to trade with me, my bag for them to use on some rinky dink expedition and they will tell the world how good it is. If it weren’t as good as I claim they would never have called me in the first place, just looking for a freebie.
In my reality it is of the utmost importance that my customer have the correct product from Wiggy’s that is most suitable for whatever the customer is intending on doing. When it comes to cold weather products especially sleeping bags my customer is putting their life in my hands and I do not like to lose customers.
As I have said since day one "SIMPLY THE BEST"!
