FIRE RETARDANT MUKLUKS
Do you work in the oil patch in Alaska or North Dakota? If so you probably must wear boots that have a steel toe. Therefore, you are subject to having cold feet. When the steel toe gets cold as it does every day that cold is transferred via conduction to your toes and once they get cold it is not long before the rest of your foot gets cold. There is a solution to this ever going problem, Wiggy’s Lamilite insulated mukluks.
Until now they have been made with Cordora exterior and the standard Lamilite insulation and they perform very well in temperatures as cold as it gets on earth. However, I now have a fire retardant mukluk also insulated with fire retardant Lamilite and a fire retardant nylon lining.
The temperature rating for this new mukluk is in the 50 below zero F range, more than enough to keep oil field workers feet warm. You wear them over your steel toed boots.
These mukluks have a Vibram sole which can be replaced when it wears out. The mukluks can easily be laundered just like our sleeping bags.
The mukluks are made with the Nomex 3A antistatic fabric which is what I use to make our parkas and bibs. We also make fire retardant arctic mittens which can also be seen on the web site.
Each of these products is available in tan, black, or the standard navy blue Nomex.
Having spent my share of time in mild arctic conditions (0 degrees to -50 F) I know that being cold is not very pleasant and if you have to be out in a cold environment for any length of time it will become down right unpleasant especially when the first part of your body that gets cold is your feet. My personal experience of getting lost in the mountains was very telling for me to know and understand how efficient my mukluks are for keeping feet warm even when wet, I did walk through streams on several occasions.
All of that said I am sure those for you who buy them will find that they are a good investment versus just a purchase. Warm feet do bring a smile to one’s face.
I also want to point out that these fire retardant mukluks are extremely good for fire fighters. these men are constantly being exposed to water and during the winter as I have seen on television when the winter fires are reported the ice build up seems to be significant, so if you are a fire fighter the mukluks may very well be good for you too.
