WARMTH RETENTION IN A SLEEPING BAG
Yesterday I wrote about the proper size sleeping bag one should purchase, and I stress that it should fit roomie (I did not state that, but that is how the bag should fit).
Now some will say that if it is to roomie there is more space to heat. This is true but if the insulation is adequate to retain the body heat, the heat stays in the bag. the proof is in the pudding with respect to Wiggy’s bags. Wiggy’s bags are the most accurately rated bags ever made and the size of the bag has not been a detriment.
The primary beauty of the Lamilite in the weights that I use it is how efficiently it functions to retain the heat that is produced by the individual in the bag. Another example of how well the Lamilite performs is when it is used to make Wiggy’s HYPOTHERMIA bags. I have been informed over the years by search and rescue people of finding a victim still alive and putting them in the hypothermia bag cold and wet and within an hour or less they, the victim telling the rescuers they are warm. Keep in mind the hypothermia bag is 34 inches wide from one end to the other and about 100 inches long, it is a one size fits all. The weight of the Lamilite used is the L-15. This is the same weight used in the SUPER LIGHT, ULTIMA THULE and ANTARCTIC BAG. it is important to have this much insulation in order to keep the victim from going into shock.
MORE FACE MASK AND FACE SHIELD BEING MADE
I read an article today about the marine industry. Like all industries the marine sail and interior makers have been hit hard as you can imagine.
These companies have converted their work force from their normal product production to face masks and plastic shields. The shields have been sold to police forces, the masks to wherever.
I chalk this up to American ingenuity. These companies and many others here in the USA are or have converted their manufacturing of products to products needed for medical use, not necessarily doctor and nurses but everyday people. When I think about it I do not believe there are facrories in countries through out the world that exist that can convert their production as quickly and I suspect seamlessly as we can here.
Unfortunately, so much of that was lost over the years that companies packed their bags and relocated their production in other parts of the world, obviously primarily in China. We have been paying the price for that action.
I personally believe we had an unemployment problem prior to the pandemic. Obviously since the inception of the pandemic the unemployment problem worsened.
While manufacturing facilities that did not leave have been able to convert to needed products because what they did produce are not in demand at this time there will not be new factories opening anytime soon.
PRODUCTION AT WIGGY’S
Kok and I have been busy with vitals for the Air Force and many consumers ordering sleeping bags, but to keep the entire work force online we have been filling in with small items such as the Lamilite socks, liner vests and liner jackets. Our inventory of these items is such that we have reduced the prices by 15 percent from the full price in order to move these products. I do have a single request; if you can buy any two, I would appreciate it so it will help with the cost of shipping.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration of this request.
