RECEIVED FROM A SEARCH AND RESCUE DOG HANDLER
Jerry,
The mittens are on my list as I purchased them for a friend who runs. He has said his hands are finally not cold!
I ask about the shoe dryer as it's too difficult to manage the leash and reward my dog, operate a radio and GPS with mittens. I much prefer mittens and will have them with me. Although I hate the gloves, they seem to be a necessary evil.
I also wanted to tell you, I sold my liner vest right off my back...so to speak. While at training outside Kansas City I was going to don my liner vest when I noticed one of my classmates was freezing, the wind and cold were horrible! I offered her my vest and I just added another layer of ineffective warmth!! I never saw it again. Within minutes she offered to pay me double what I paid...of course I didn't do THAT. I sold it to her for exactly what I paid. I will be purchasing a replacement! I then gave everyone the website and my normal blurb on all your products. I'll never buy anything else! I hope you gained more devoted consumers.
Thanks for all you do for the cold folks!
Ellen
I suggested that Ellen get a pair of leather gloves with a wool liner when she had to do work that required dexterity. As for using the shoe dryer in the gloves it would probably work.
As for her selling the vest, that is a first for me to hear about. So she has a friend with my mittens and now a new friend with my vest. Many thanks to Ellen!
Ellen called me and told me that she has a variety of my products; sleeping bags and various clothing items and socks. She is going to replace the vest liner with the Supplex vest soon. She also told me she has been talking to one and all in the SAR community about my products for three years.
Now you can understand why I have zero problems getting up each morning to run Wiggy’s.
When I peruse the web sites of other companies serving the outdoor market place I almost never see testimonials from satisfied customers, I do see comments from so called “professional” outdoors persons who actually are employed by the various companies extolling how well the product worked for them.
In the 32 years of making Wiggy’s bags I have never employed anyone who I supplied my bags too to rave about them, it has all come from people who have spent their own money for my bags who have written telling me how well they have worked. It gives greater credibility to the product.
Over the years as I have increased the product mix to include outerwear the positive comments have continued as is evidenced by Ellen’s experience with them. Actually the liner vest and jacket are products that have surprised me when so many have told me how well they have performed even though they are incredibly light in weight.
I am now thinking of making a slightly upscale vest and jacket using the Supplex shell fabric. It will have a collar and pockets, maybe snaps down the front only versus a zipper as well, just a thought. The level of insulation will be slightly heavier and I will go from the 3 ounce to a 5 ounce Lamilite. The price for each of these garments will come in under $100.00 each. If it happens I’ll publicize these garments sometime in April.
These garments will be excellent for the SAR market since they will be easily stuff able of course they will also be adaptable for any outdoors person who wants to have a easily packable layer of insulation when it becomes necessary.
Hi,
My wife and I have 2 Wiggy (purple) 20° bags that are right around 30 years old and we are looking for some new bags. These bags have been well loved, and well used, traveling many places and keep us snug and warm through it all. We are now looking not to retire these bags but to get 2 more bags as our current Wiggys are not keeping us quite as warm as they once did. This is not a criticism but rather just the way it goes and we count ourselves lucky to have gotten as much good use out of them as we have.
I was looking at your closeout blue 20° bags and wanted to know what the weight of them is. We are not ultralight backpackers, but we still care about getting the most out of each pound that we chose to carry. Anyway, this is a fan letter, because I really want to keep supporting your company by buying 2 new bags from you. I have sent numerous friends, colleagues and other random trail associates your way over the years and will continue to do so whether or not we buy new bags from you or not. I just wanted the weight of those bags and to give you all a well earned thank you.
Stay warm and dry,
Scott (& Rachel)
30 years that is a lot of use. i told Scoot to return then so i can see what i can do for them. Remember they do have a lifetime guarantee, so what do you think I WILL do?
