what to wear to have warm feet

FIRE RETARDANT MUKLUKS

The U.S. military wrote to me recently asking about my mukluks for use by men who work the flight line in cold regions of the world where we have bases. After a few minutes of conversation they were excited to hear that I can make them with Fire Retardant materials. This was extremely important to them because as much as possible they need FR wearing apparel which includes footwear any time they are dealing with aircraft. The boots that are issued to these men are FR and they have steel toes. The steel toes are a negative in cold weather because the steel gets cold and that cold transfers to the flesh and blood toes as well as the rest of the foot. By wearing the mukluks the steel will not get cold and when they leave the field and go inside all they do is take off the mukluks.

In some cases they buy Chinese made pack boots that always prove to be useless.

I also know that oil field workers too must wear steel toed boots. I cannot tell you the number of men who have called asking for Lamilite insulated boots with steel toes. Many are not oil field workers so the need for a mukluk that is FR is greatly needed. These oil field workers will experience the same result as flight line workers, no cold feet and the ability to remove the mukluk when inside without taking off say a pack boot.

Look no further than the Wiggy’s web site and you will find that I now have Nomex, an FR approved material that I use for FR parkas and bibs that I provide to the oil industry throughout the Alaskan oil patch. The exterior is Nomex and the interior lining and insulation are FR lining and an FR Lamilite / Climashield.

The FR mukluks are available in the tan color as seen on the web site as well as black or navy blue.

The pricing for the mukluks which is now on the website and is as follows:

STANDARD MUKLUK – BLACK ONLY WITH A VIBRAM SOLE IS $210.00

ADD THE NON-SKID THE PRICE IS PLUS $10.00

FIRE RETARDANT MUKLUKS –TAN, BLACK, NAVY WITH A VIBRAM SOLE $270.00-----ADD THE NON-SKID SOLE THE PRICE IS PLUS $10.00

The beauty of the mukluks are that you wear them over whatever footwear you have on when you go outside and then take them off when you go back inside. If you were to wear pack boots you have to take off your footwear put on the pack boots and then reverse the procedure when you come inside. Also you may bring in a mess versus taking the mukluks off outside and brushing them off. And not the least is the fact that your feet WILL be warm versus cold in pack boots.

They are available for purchase at this time.
