My early backpacking career was spent crawling into claustrophobic slim-line mummies, which for me, at 6' 4" and 220 lbs., tended to take all the fun out of the outdoors. When I discovered Wiggy's and started buying his bags, it was a revelation. It was possible to sleep comfortably in the back-country! Sure, they are bulkier than those old mummies, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make. My most recent bag is a lightweight Wiggy's 40-degree bag currently on special. When I hit the woods again this spring and summer, I will be using it as a sleeping quilt. The zipper doesn't go all the way down, so it creates a foot box just like these fancy backpacking quilts that are all the rage---but for a fraction of the cost. Wiggy's continues to be the best American sleeping bag manufacturer that no one knows about...

Quality craftsmanship, excellent results. I've been using the winter bivy to sleep under the stars at 7,000 feet in northern New Mexico, high 20's, low 30's. Blissful, warm, wonderful night's sleep.

Technical wool insulation provider HD Wool’s new Apparel Insulation technology has been incorporated into the recent outerwear collections of English brands Purdey and 7L (Seven Layer), in addition to Sweden’s Hajk.

HD Wool, also based in England, described its latest outdoor- and lifestyle-oriented offer as 100% natural, renewable, and highly durable, with “excellent” temperature regulating and moisture management properties.

WOOL IS NOT AN EXCELLENT TEMPERATURE REGULATING MATERIA NEVER WAS.. ONCE WOOL ABSORBS MOISTURE, FROM YOUR BODY WOOL BECOMES AN EXCELLENT ABSORBER OF YOUR HEAT. THE END RESULT IS THAT YOU WILL BECOME UNCOMFORTABLY COLD.



Thanks to its own Woolkeepers programme, launched alongside Perthshire-based wool buyer Brannach Olann in 2019, the wool used in creating HD Wool’s Apparel Insulation is “fully traceable” back to farm-level.

THEY CAN TRACE THE WOOL BACK TO THE SHEEP RANCHERS WHO SOLD IT TO THEM. BIG DEAL! THE WOOL GROWN ON SHEEP IN ENGLAND IS ALL THE SAME.

IF THE COMPANIES THAT USE THIS WOOL PRODUCT HAD ANY SENSE, THEY WOULD BUY THE SYNTHETIC KNOWN AS CLIMASHIELD AND THEN THEY WOULD HAVE A WORLD CLASS INSULATION.
