The following article is reprinted from the SNEWS online publication from day 4 of the outdoor retailer trade show. It as far as I am concerned shows both ignorance and stupidity at the gore company.
WHAT’S NEXT W.L. Gore & Associates shows its softer side with a new line focused on comfort and performance. WHEN YOUR BRAND NAME has practically become a generic term for technical waterproof/breathable technology, (Here I will point out stupidity. I say stupidity because the gore employees can no longer be ignorant of the fact that technically they have a product that is both waterproof and breathable [they still
do not understand that inanimate material does not breath, so the correct terminology is vapor permeable which it is not] cannot be made; so they are in my opinion stupid.) where do you go to expand? If you’re W.L. Gore & Associates, you set your sights on a less hardcore, comfort-focused slice of the market—without losing the techy benefits you’re already known for. (The techy benefits are just in their mind.) That’s where Gore’s latest line comes in. This fall, Gore-Tex expands its materials offerings beyond its original Black Diamond brand. With the GoreTex Infinium brand extension launch, identified by a white diamond logo, the company will explore avenues into comfort with performance benefits. (The comfort they are referring to is more than likely having a material that is vapor permeable but how can they do that when they are laminating a membrane to whatever fabric they are offering? Once again they are offering a fabric that will not work.) “We’re bringing versatile comfort to the market, while never losing sight of our materials heritage and the science behind it,” says Sarah Ellis, fabrics division product specialist. (This person is a member of the gore team of brain washed people. The science behind the gore products is as flawed as any science can be.) So Lined and Insulated Garments with Persistent Beading Performance. I believe that water will bead- up on the outside of the garment because the material is as close to water proof as you can get.) This technology features long-lasting water resistance with a construction that eliminates the need for a face fabric, which enhances breathability. (Now they say water resistance so it must have some vapor permeability. Also, by eliminating the fabric they also eliminate the adhesive used during lamination so the holes aren’t clogged.) “The lifestyle aesthetic is great for consumers who want function, but don’t want to compromise on style.” (Here you get to know the real reason for all of their efforts, fashion, fashion, fashion.)
And in footwear, Gore’s new Thermium As far as I have been able to learn about this new product is that they are sandwiching a polyester fiberfill between a membrane and a lining fabric) technology places a thin layer of insulation over a shoe’s toebox to keep feet warm outside without making them overheat when inside. (This last sentence is gibberish, how do you keep feet warm outside the shoe so they don’t over heat when in the shoe? Warped non-thinking.) The low-profile insulation lends warmth without affecting shoe style. “A lot of companies put insulation in the whole shoe, but we learned through our comfort science studies that if you put it in just the toebox, it will provide the same level of warmth and comfort that the user will need,” Ellis says. (This Ellis person must be listening to the scientists that work in the gore $15,000,000.00 laboratory that learned toes get colder before the rest of the foot, so if you keep the toes warm the rest of the foot stays warm. Unfortunately this is not the case. I am convinced that gore employees do not think ever.)
It seems to me that gore believes they are so strong in the market place they can put anything into the market place and it will sell. In the event manufacturers use these products as Arc-Teryx is the Thermium retailers will buy it and offer it to the consumers. Arc-Teryx has never bothered to see what this product is good for and the retailers who buy it will also have never tried the garments to know what they are good for and in that regard I view this as an unholy alliance bordering on a quiet conspiracy perpetrated on the general public. Gore lies about their products ability to perform and every company along the line that jumps on board with it swears to it. If that isn’t conspiratorial I do not know what is.
MORE ELECTRIC WARM
8K Flexwarm is a unique heating technology that is so thin, it can be printed and layered directly onto fabric, which means the collection is ultra-lightweight and durable without the need for additional bulky insulation and without compromising warmth retention. The brand has designed a range of heated apparel that lets wearers perfect their body temperature through their smartphones, delivering temperatures of up to 122 degrees in just 6 minutes. The jacket launched in the UK in October and a few weeks later, the product video was picked up by some of the biggest social media video publishers in the world, such as Buzzfeed and UniLad.
You never want to fool the human body, especially your own. Any time you use an outside source of heat as in an electrically heated garment your body does not know what you have done and once the power comes to an end you are in trouble. I think the Brits should buy these garments in such large numbers so none get shipped to the states, as I do not like seeing my fellow citizens screwed, as we have plenty who are screwing them right here in the USA.

The U.S. Army has selected three companies to make insulated overboots prototypes as potential replacements for the outdated Extreme Cold Weather Boot.
"The current Extreme Cold Weather Boot (ECWB) has remained largely unmodified since the 1960s and utilizes outdated technology and manufacturing processes which are no longer available within the U.S.," according to a recent special notice on FedBizOpps.gov. "Additionally, the ECWB is heavy, bulky, and difficult to pack/carry when conducting dismounted operations."
To find a replacement, Army equipment officials plan to buy 150 pairs each of insulated overboots from Wiggy's Inc. of Grand Junction, Colorado; Outdoor Research of Seattle, Washington; and Original Footwear Co. of Stockton, California.
"Firm fixed-price contracts are anticipated," according to the notice.
Army equipment officials "will commence an effort to evaluate insulated overboots solutions with the potential to offer similar environmental protection at reduced weight/bulk," the notice states. "This improved solution will be called the Extreme Cold Weather Overboot (ECWO)."
But finding a replacement for the Extreme Cold Weather Boot has been a challenge. Three years ago, the Army began looking for a replacement, but the effort was unsuccessful.

The Army need not worry any longer since the Wiggy’s mukluk has proven over the past 25 years that it works in temperatures at -60 F. When we went to Bosnia the Army’s 10th SPG purchased 500 pair and all men issued these mukluks were very happy. Occasionally I receive a call or note from one of these men who is still using them.
I do not know what the other companies have to offer if anything but I do know that my product does out perform all of the other cold weather footwear available in the world today.
