Gore just will not ever give up and the shoe companies will never acknowledge they make footwear with goretex how that does not, never has or ever will work as is claimed. The following article is reprinted from SBG online magazine.
Embrace The Elements This Winter … #OwnTheRun With Gore-Tex
Poor road conditions and weather will not slow you down when you lace up with lightweight, breathable running shoes with Gore-Tex liners that come with a ‘Guaranteed To Keep You Dry’ promise.
The employees of the gore company have been saying this for so long now they actually believe it!
Every square inch of the Gore-Tex footwear membrane gives you 9 billion openings small enough to block rain and wind while still releasing water vapor as you sweat to keep your feet dry pounding out the miles.
I think they used to say 9 billion openings per square inch, now they leave out the square inch wording because the person counting the holes has been at it since the late 1970’s and has yet to finish the count. Do you think anyone actually believes this nonsense outside of the gore offices or if even they believe it?
The Gore-Tex team — biomechanics and footwear engineers — are also runners so the testing to make sure that a running shoe delivers both waterproof protection and performance is key.
In this day and age gore probably has robots using their prototypes and as we know robots don’t sweat or do they?
From minimal to neutral to trail, Gore-Tex works hand-in- hand with shoe designers to protect your run from the elements. Over 75 percent of runners run in cold and/or wet conditions. Here are the latest contenders.
I suspect that gore representatives work with the marketing people at these companies telling them about the advertising dollarsthey will receive.
Water can’t penetrate Gore-Tex yet, the material remains breathable, allowing moisture to escape. Properly cared for and used as intended, you can expect it to remain waterproof, windproof and breathable.
It is irrelevant how well you care of the footwear you may have made with goretex it will not remain “breathable” because it is not “breathable” to begin with. Nothing can remain in a state that it is not in, in the first place. If water cannot penetrate the film in the first place how can it allow moisture to get through it? It can’t but there are people who will buy literally into it by buying products like shoes made with it every day. It suggests to me that these people are glutens for punishment. Who suffer with foot problems that are directly caused by a material that traps all of the foot produced moisture in the shoes you are wearing.
Maybe someday one of the engineers (?) at one of these shoe companies will advise the upper command that waterproof breathable is a mystery action that is for all intents and purposes does not exist except with living entities such as humans, animals and plants. Of course this will not happen because these so called engineers have grown up with goretex in footwear and rainwear so they are predisposed to believe the impossible. Maybe it has to do with never being taught to actually think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
