-20 at my house this morning; went out for about 1 hour removing snow.
Wore your head liner, super mittens, Nomex shirt jacket and socks. Was plenty warm. I have an arctic parka and may get to wear that this week. Cannot believe how warm your shirt jacket is. I have lived in Alaska, Northern MN, and Northern Maine and your clothing is by far the best I have owned. I slept in a motor home, no heat -20 outside in your Ultimate Thule sleeping bag and was comfortable. I trust my life with your products Jerry. I have a Ducksback Jacket lightweight liner and wear that all the time. I hope you make those again.

It has been since 1968 that I developed the economical way to use the continuous filament fiber [CFF] and now that Wiggy’s is a 35 year old company and what I developed so many years ago is how I make all of the Wiggy products. The method I developed was to laminate the continuous filament fiber, so I trade named it Lamilite.

I have been getting letters such as MR. Carlson’s for years and I believe you know they number in the hundreds if you read my articles.

What give me the most joy is learning from my customers how many different products we make that they have bought. Obviously, Gary has amassed plenty.

Gary is not the first person to state my products are the best of their type that he has ever used. This sentiment has been told to me many times over the years.

I mention that I developed an economical way to use the CFF because it was being treated by the industry in the same manner as all of the chopped staple fiberfill, it was being quilted. There were a number of problems at that time with it, number one was the quilters did not want to use it. They did if their customer bought it. The quilters and garnetters were a cagy group, no matter what their customers ordered in the way of fiber fill, the chopped variety, Dacron, Kodel etc. they blended those fibers with unbranded chopped staple fiber which was cheap. There is CFF or there isn’t, you can’t substitute any fiber for it.

Since I was experimenting with laminating fiberfill, I tried the CFF and it worked superbly. We not only made the CFF we also had a laminating plant so we could laminate the CFF. The problem I was now faced with was the company that made it didn’t like it but they had no choice since the company was sold to Celanese Corp who made the fiber. Then they did not like the idea of laminating the CFF.

When I returned from my sailing sabbatical and started Olam my first company, I found a laminator in N.J. and he bought the CFF laminated it for me and sold it to me.

That is the condensed version of what I had to deal with.

To further condense the past, I started making sleeping bags first then parkas and them a myriad of insulated apparel products with the CFF trade named Lamilite the laminated CFF.

For years I have been receiving comments such as Gary’s and it always makes me feel good. Our sales this year are booming because so many customers have told people about Wiggy’s and their efforts have been paying off for Wiggy’s.

Our orders have been so strong that we will be busy well into 2023. Since my birthday is soon approaching it certainly is a wonderful gift.
