winter has arrived

WINTER IS FINALLY HERE OR IS IT ON TIME?

Winter has come on strong, and as the few Farmers Almanacs have predicted it will be strongly cold.

The earlier in the season those large amounts of snow fall the less dark ground to absorb the radiant heat that comes from the sun the colder the air becomes. The white surface reflects the radiant heat back into space. It is for this reason the popular color of clothing worn in the Middle East is white.

Many people I believe will get a wakeup call when they experience the thinly quilted “winter” jackets they have purchased that utilize the various “jim dandy newfangled” insulations. You know those that I have written about for several years. The various names used by Primaloft even though they only have one product that is 100% polyester with several names or mixed with wool or down now believing I guess they have something even more special over and above a higher price. Or the various grades of down; I believe there is one grade with different numbers assigned to it. In any event if the winter stays as I believe it will be cold and these people will be buying new jackets to either replace what they already have wasted their money on or to wear over them. Probably buying a different brand, but, each brand I am learning comes from the same factory in China. So they get a different label to curse.

Here in Grand Junction the last two mornings have been 24 and 21 degrees respectively and the forecast is for the same for a while. So I wear my fishnet top, Lamilite socks and boots as well as wearing my mittens. When I was lost my hands took a definite hit of frost bite so my mittens of choice are the Kodiaks. Need I tell you that I wear a Wiggy parka, either the Barron Grounds or my Fossil Ridge parka with the L-6 Lamilite!

The other two item I wear when it is necessary are either the vest or jacket liner. Worn inside either of the parkas mentioned I am good to -20 or so, so long as I have proper leg and foot wear on. Leg jackets and over boots, the mukluks if it were arctic weather!

So if you haven’t made your winter garment purchases, nothing out there is even close to Lamilite insulated products, and I stand squarely behind that statement. If you do you will enjoy your time out in the cold. Don’t forget the first layer of fishnets, they make every article of clothing you wear over them work better.

UPDATE ON THE AIR FORCE NEED OF VACUUM PACKED U;LTIMA THULE SLEEPING BAGS

Yesterday one of the bidders called me and told me he had the order. they wanted to know how quickly I could ship, since i have them in stock in boxes ready to go they will ship Monday. Then the pilots who fly the aircraft these bags are place in, in the ejection seats can fly knowing that IF they had to punch out they have the bag that has been tested for 20 years going with them.
