The following e mail has an interesting twist on one person’s thinking about goretex.
During my working life both military and civilian in desert heat and arctic cold I came to the conclusion many years ago that Gore-Tex is a dirty word and should not be mentioned in polite society...…
My son and I both have Wiggy arctic bags......best thing I ever bought.

It is really remarkable the growing list of people who are finally stepping forward and expressing their thoughts about goretex and it remarkable lack of ability to work/perform as advertised.
As of this writing I have yet to get a response from rei. So I went back to the web site and there is a place where you can write to the board of directors, which I did so they possible now know my thinking about waterproof breathable. Maybe they too will choose not respond so in that case I will know they have no defense to support waterproof breathable materials.
The outdoor industry today is just a shadow of itself on when I started in the industry in the late 1960’s. The men who were the driving forces of the industry were always striving to produce better products and were not concerned about the fashion aspect because they knew the function was going to be viewed as the primary. They never thought about hood winking their potential customers versus what takes place these days.
THE 40 DEGREE BAG
It is on the web site and I have already started to get orders; pleasant surprise.
