The north face has been offering the same non-performing rainwear for about 40 years since they started using goretex. So, for 40 years their rainwear has never been waterproof and breathable, so why now. As for ensuring the adventure never stops, when in the wild and it rains you will be on an adventure looking for some place to get under out of the rain. It is easier if you are in the street, just walk into a building.

Back for another season, the Dryzzle jacket returns. Featuring seam sealed FUTURELIGHT technology that adds air permeability to a waterproof membrane, to help wick sweat away from the body. The men’s jacket includes a fully adjustable good, rolled forward hems and a waist adjuster to provide the perfect fit, whilst the women’s jacket has a longer length and brimmed hood to provide unbeatable shelter.

the futurelight is not air permeable so how can the seam tape get to be air permeable. How can a waterproof membrane wick a way sweat? It can’t!

The new West Basin jacket is made with 27% plant-based sources, making it a kinder choice for nature, yet never compromising on performance. Engineered with three-layer, seam-sealed DryVent technology, it’s waterproof, breathable and protects against light winds. An added membrane for additional warmth helps to lock heat in during the colder moments exploring, whilst elasticated cuffs and an adjustable hood make it suitable for any conditions.

I am of the opinion this company and so many others talk about waterproof and breathable so often they now believe it is true. As each new generation comes along, they believe all of this false information and spend the money only to discover in the first rainstorm they bought into a lie.

Being that we are a throw away society they do not care.

Recently I was asked about goretex and I said I believe their sales of goretex to manufactures is decreasing. I believe for the moment different brands of the bogus product has cut into their sales but in general I believe waterproof breathable has seen their best days.
